Hi Y'all!

I did some research on Robins in the Northeast over the winter months and found out quite a bit!

http://www.learner.org/jnorth/unpave/robinwinter.html

This is quite enlightening and tells you what they eat in the hard weather.

Hope you are all well, had a wonderful day with 3 other gals today, lunch, laughs and birthday celebration. It sure is nice to have great friends who can relate to the long ago, look back and laugh at it.

Winter is half over, something to be happy about.

Enjoy life,

Jackie

Here's an inspiring quote from the big guy with that marvelous swagger we all loved in westerns!

"Tomorrow is the most important thing in life.  Comes into us at midnight very clean.  It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands.  It hopes we've learned something from yesterday."

If any of you are" late night owls" (such as myself), Jay Leno, AHS Class of 1968, will be saying "ta-ta for now" from hosting the Tonight Show tonight at 11:30PM EST.  He'll be having as a guest on the show, the first guest he ever had, and that was Billy Crystal...sort of a full circle for both of them!  We wish you the best, Jay!smiley

I know I'll be watching...hope you will too!

When you talked about the Big Guy with a swagger, I thought you were talking about my good friend Barry Connors. I could never quote the verses that he spit out !

You're right.... perhaps the "other big guy" you were mentioning, has some insights he'd like to share with the rest of us.....how about it, Mr. C?

Now that Valentine's Day is approaching, and that all roses symbolize love, the listing below gives you the special meaning for each color:

Red:   Love, Passion, Respect, Courageheart

Yellow:   Joy, Friendship, Freedomheart

Pink:   Happiness, Gratitude, Appreciation, Admirationheart

Cream:   Thoughtfulness, Charm, Graciousnessheart

Orange:   Admiration, Fascination, Enthusiasm, Desireheart

White:   Innocence, Purity, Secrecy, Reverenceheart

Two of each color, and you'd have the perfect dozen!!

Happy Valentine's Day.....withheartkiss

Mary Passanisi (Gonsalves)

Wish I knew how, or if I could, post a couple of pictures here but....my husband and I are in Clearwater,FL. Yesterday we went to a car show. We saw some gorgeous antique cars which had us both drooling over. I'm bringing this up because one car stood out/ not because of the KIND of car that it was , a beautiful shiny black 1951 Ford ( most of the other cars there were older) but because of a sign that the owner put on the inside of the windshield. It said.....  "ANDOVER HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT". The owner was listed as being from Andover, MA. Haha

Our vacation down here wasn't very good. My mother, who lives and came with us, was hospitized for most of the time while here. She's doing better now but now it's time to head home!!  Hope everyone is doing well, especially  those in N.E with all that snow. Of course, not looking forward to going home to it!

Take care!!

Hi Mary!

So sorry that your Mom was not well during vacation.  Hope she has made a full recovery.  I'd love to see your pictures, maybe on FB?  Warm climates are sounding better and better as we get on in years.  Take care, keep warm...talk to you soon.

PS> If you love antique cars and planes, you should make a trip north to Owl's Head Museum.  It's in lobster land and there are other neat thiings to see in the area.  We've been 3 times and enjoy it every time.

Hey Mary....

We all know that Jay Leno has an enormous array of cars (antique and otherwise)...seeing he's a comedian, and originally from Andover, do you think it's possible that he put that sign on the car just for ha...ha's?  Something to ponder for sure!

"MIss PJ"smiley

P.S.  Hope your Mom will be (a "fav" saying of mine), "bright-eyed and bushytailed"  real soon!

Mary Passanisi (Gonsalves)

Jackie, I definitely will go to Owls Head Museum. I do love antique cars and old planes so that will be a great place to go. Thanks!!  My mother is doing better- but every time I think that, she gets hospitalized. Three times in the last 3 months.

Pam, it's funny you mentioned Jay Leno!!  I talked to a lot of antique owners and they all said that Jay Leno was in town as he was performing not too far from where the car show was. They also said they were hoping he'd come by as he LOVES antique cars.

Mary....

Just had a funny feeling about the car, the sign, and now that you mentioned Jay was in the area, I bet that could have been one of his bevy of classics!  Would be interesting to find out if it was really his!

Donna DuFault (Proctor)

According to everything I've read, Jay Leno is an Andover High graduate, not a drop-out. He received his Bachelor's degree from Emerson. Of course, with his sense of humor, who knows whether the sign was his idea of a joke.

Pamela Thomas

Donna...

Yes, I knew he graduated from AHS in 1968 but with his sense of humor, that very well could have been his car and, his "sense of humor"  would be at its very best with the sign on the car!  I think "Jay the Jokester" would be an appropriate name for him if it were truly his car and idea!

Janice Colburn (Swenson)

I'm wondering if the owner of the car knew Jay was in the area and was hoping Jay would stop by and that was the owner's way of letting Jay know that he also was from Andover.

Mary, we're not too far from you near Fort DeSoto. Hope your Mom will continue to improve!

Janice

02/12/14 01:42 PM #84

Mary Passanisi (Gonsalves)

Janice, thats a good take you have on the signage!!    All the owners I talked to already knew Jay was in the area and you could see them looking around the crowd...they told me they wanted to see him if he showed up.  So you may be right...that sign certainly got my attention when I saw it! ha  I think if Jay Leno had an antique car there...it would be something pretty special...not that a 1951 Ford isn't, cuz it was beautiful, but something REALLY unique.  So attracting his attention with an Andover sign seems more plausible!

We are back in Nottingham, NH now.  Most of our FL vacation was spent in the hospital in Clearwater except for the one afternoon of seeing the antique car show so we didn't get to visit anyone while down there.  It would have been great seeing you tho!!!

Mary, I would have enjoyed seeing you!! Maybe we can make a connection sometime when we're in MA. Glad to hear you got home safely. Hope your mom won't have any more problems!!!!

Take care!!

Very sad to hear of Dick Collins passing.  His obit/ life story can be found on www.eagletribune.com for those of you who do not live in the area or, do not receive our local paper.  A lovely tribute to a man I had the pleasure of having as a teacher!
