Judith Ann (Leadbitter) Richmond, 71, died peacefully on January 25th 2017 at her home on Cunningham Ridge Road in Surry, Maine. She was born on July 18th of 1945, in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of Staley and Emily Leadbitter.
She graduated from New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA in 1966. It was there that she met her roommate and best friend Dianne (Marshall) Frisone.
Her nursing career of 40+ years was served at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, ME where she performed the duties of Charge Nurse (nights) and Nursing Supervisor (nights). She later opened and managed the EMMC Dialysis Unit in Ellsworth, ME.
She is survived by her sister Susan (Leadbitter) Simons, her children Susan Hansen and Charles, Robert and Tom Richmond as well as her grandchildren, Charles, Tim, and Chris Hansen and Caleb, Kyle, Bennett and Abigail Richmond. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Robert Leadbitter.
Judy's love of dogs was well known and she insisted that special mention be made to Keo, Sammy, Addie, Idgy Marie,and "the" Toddy Ponder with high honors.
A memorial celebration will be held at the Edward K Arey Community Center, 1160 River Road, Bucksport, ME on Saturday, February 11th from 2:00-5:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Bangor Humane Society or UCP of Maine. Cards can be mailed to 18 Youngs Lane, Old Town, ME 04468 in care of Charlie Richmond.
