Chocorua, NH - Lord Funeral Home

Joseph Edison Colbourne Pike, 68, of Chocorua, passed away amongst his best friends while on his 18th fishing trip at a remote camp in Newfoundland on July 11, 2013.

He was an avid hunter, fly fisherman, and always looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Newfoundland, the birthplace of his father.  He loved his daily crossword puzzles and fly tying; he enjoyed nature and the great outdoors.  A good book was always near his side.

Jed was born in Worcester, MA in 1944, the son of the late Rev. Joseph Edison Pike and Louise T. Pike.  He was a long-time resident of Chocorua where he and his wife operated a local business. He served the community as a Chocorua Fire Warden, Emergency Management Director, EMT for the ambulance service, a volunteer fireman and Assistant Boy Scout Leader, he also plowed local roads in the winter.  He was former Warden of St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Tamworth where he and his wife were married.

Jed is survived by his loving wife, Beverly (Haley) Pike.  Other surviving family members are his dearest mother, Louise T. Pike; his two sons, Joseph Matunas of Indiana and Jonah Pike and his wife Sara of Meredith, NH; two grandchildren, Marie Ann Matunas of Indiana and Tyler Pike of Meredith, NH; one brother, Rev. Clifford Pike of Kentucky; two sisters, Elizabeth Higgins of Maine and Margaret Pike of North Carolina.  Jed also leaves nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his father J. Edison Pike SL in 1998.

There will be no visiting hours.  A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrews in the Valley Church, 678 Whittier Road, Tamworth, NH on Tuesday, July 23rd at 4:00PM.  The Rev. Heidi Franz-Dale will be officiating.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P o Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718

Jed's wife posted a picture of Jed, fishing in a beautiful stream, sun shining, and Jed as content and happy as he could be, and loved by his family.  What a beautiful tribute with which to remember a kind and caring Jed.
