So very sad to learn of the death of Paul and Jill Peters. I admired all of the hard work Paul put into the website and will always think of him when I view it. May they rest in peace and have a joyous afterlife! Deep condolences to their family.

I am sad to hear of Paul and Jill passing. Thank you Paul for all you did for our class. I am glad I got to see you again at our 45 reunion. I can't believe that you still remembered  our one date in 8th grade where we went to the Annandale Bowling Alley. We were so young then.

Is anyone managing this site since Paul Peters passed? If so, he needs to be moved out of 'Classmate Profiles' and into 'In Memory'. If someone is currently working on this please forgive me. I just wanted to be sure his name didn't slip through the cracks.

Thank you for expressing your concern about the website.  Paul Rowson is in the process of learning the technical aspects of the website. His first project is to place Paul Peters's name on the memory page. Paul Peters maintained the website entirely on his own, so this might take some time for us to catch up.  After the January luncheon, the reunion committee will be holding a meeting. You will be hearing much more from the committee after that meeting. Hope to see you January 9th.

I am sending out this New Year wish to all classmates. I hope this message finds you and your loved ones in good health and in good spirits with hopes for a happy and healthy 2022. If anything these past two years have taught us, I think it's how valuable the time is we have together on this Earth. Sadly, we have lost a number of dear classmates this year which has made this message even more poignant.

On June 24 this year, not one, but two once-in-a-life time events will occur. The first is our 50th Class Reunion which the reunion committee has been working on to make it an event to remember. We probably won't have another opportunity like this to renew friendships and create new acquisitions. The second event is equally rare. Coincidentally, just before sunrise on June 24, all the planets visible to the naked eye along with the crescent Moon will align in order across the eastern sky. The best place to view this rare moment coincidentally will be the mid-Atlantic Eastern U.S. None of us will witness this rare alignment again in our lifetime and none of us will experience a 50th AHS reunion again.

So, my New Year Wish is that each of you who read this will share it with a lost classmate or two, join us for our 50th reunion and gaze up at the morning sky on June 24 and reflect on how lucky we are to be able to share these two events together.

All the best!

Paul

Greg, losing a loved one is painful. I lost my parents years ago, so I know the sorrow you must be feeling. Hopefully you and Jane can find some comfort knowing that her mother will always be with you in spirit. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Good news!  The reunion committee is back and we are ready to rumble!  You will soon be hearing from different classmates regarding plans for our weekend extravaganza.
In the meantime, please go ahead and make your reservations with the Marriott.  The link to make reservations is on the homepage of the website.  You do not want to miss out on these fantastic room rates.  These special rates are limited.

In addition, it is now time to purchase your reunion tickets!  The cost is $150 per person and an extra $10 if you wish to attend the picnic. The picnic will be held on the grounds of the high school!  More on that later!
Why pay now?  Because our next deposit is due on March 7, 2022.

We are requesting that you pay by check at this time due to the high fees associated with using credit cards.

Please make your check payable to Annandale High 1971 50th Reunion and mail it to me at 6162 River Sound Circle, Southport, NC 28461.

Your help with this is truly appreciated.

Go Atoms!

James Burden

Hello Everyone:

As a member of the Reunion Committee, I would like to echo Maureen's post for those who wish to attend the reunion to please send in their fees and commit to attending the 50th Reunion.

As we go through our lives, we might not think about AHS very often, but this year we should.  A 50th Reunion is a very big deal.  I know that I am really looking forward to seeing everyone.  As the years go by, I become a little more sentimental about past and current relationships...especially with the passing of people who were dear to me.  The thought of not seeing them again saddens me, even if we were not "super close".  Too many this past year or so.

I wanted this to be upbeat, but I failed miserably so far.  I'll start over.

I am charged with the daunting task of organizing the Golf Outing.  In the past, we have had anywhere from 8 to 16 participants.  I really hope that we can have a good turnout this year.  I will check with several courses in the area, but I don't think that the venue itself is the determining factor.  It is the fierce competition that will occur, and the magnificant awards up for those showing their amazing talents.  Some of these awared cost literally dollars.

I challenge more women to join us this year.  I challenge the men to summon what testosterone we can muster and take the "Long Drive" award from the beast known as Debbie Silver.  Enough is enough gentlemen.

There will be awards for other amazing skills such as Closest to the Pin, Best Shot of the Day, Worst Shot of the Day, and probably some other accomplishment yet to be determined.

The golf outing has been a highlight for me each reunion and I look forward to having another fun outing.  Please consider joining us.  We don't care how you play, just come out and swing.

Again, I am really looking forward to seeing everyone in June.  In the meantime, I know we are all looking forward to seeing Mark Duffner and the Bengals in the Super Bowl.  Still hard to believe, but it is really happening.  AFC Champions and now have a shot at being World Champions.  WOW!

Hope everyone is well, or as well as can be expected.

Stay safe and really looking forward to seeing you all.

Jimmy Burden (as everyone seems to remember me being)

First of all......GO BENGALS !!!!  We are all pulling for you Coach Mark Duffner!  and looking forward to seeing you at the reunion...as well as seeing everyone there.  It will be amazing and fun to see classmates some we knew and others we did not know as well.  Time has a way of sneaking up on us so I'm hoping everyone will be there that can possibly make it.  I have a special surprise in a song that I will perform that I know every woman from our class will love and the guys will like it probably as much.  It's the perfect reunion song...so hey let's have some good ole Annandale fun.....make your plans contact Maureen for deposit info and hotel info and let's have an A-Blast from the past !!!
