Billy Crews is a great idea. They have an outside patio which is very relaxing.
Is Sunday supposed to be a family event?

-Friday:
Yes, Billy Crews has a nice patio area.
The plan is to have our Friday mix & mingle on the Patio. In the event of rain, we are working w/ the restaurant to use the ball room.

-Saturday:
The Great American in Anthony is practically asking us to use their facility. It has two dinning rooms and a bar in between.

-Sunday:
We are trying to set up a trip back to the High School, picnic, golf, etc. It just depends on the availibility of everyone attending.

Also, I'm trying to get pictures of both locations. This will give everyone an idea of what to expect.

Please send us your comments and suggestions. The sooner, the better. Take care.

Victor good job!!! I love all the ideas. If I can help in any way (from Albuquerque), let me know...I think it all sounds very inviting and comfortable. It puts everything in the area where we all grew up. Thanks!

BTW - Hi everyone! Can't wait to see you all! Everyone needs to give Eddie Santiesteban a shout out! He thinks NO ONE wants to see him.....

If we do the Sunday BBQ thing I'm going to suggest that it's BYO Everything...lol. The committee can reserve the space in the park and maybe we can get a jumper for the kids and a volleyball net like we did last time, but folks can bring their own food and drinks, chairs, blankets, etc. What do you think?

This all sounds like a lot of fun! It will be great to see everyone again. It would be fun to have everyone dress like the way we did in high school...the big hair, folded jeans (that's all I remember, I'm old). This is just a suggestion.

I know the price is all-inclusive, but maybe for the Sunday picnic we can add $5 or $10 a person for burgers, hot dogs, etc. and maybe recruit a few volunteers to grill for us (and we can buy a couple of cases of beer from the proceeds for these guys). Then sides and drinks can be "pot luck" style, or see how much we collect and what we can get for it. What you guys think?

Who is Skippy Aleman? I admit, my memory isn't the greatest and I feel like I'm becomong re-acquainted with everyone through their profiles, but I doubt I would EVER forget someone named Skippy!

Hi everyone! Looking forward to seeing everyone again. Ugh... I can't believe it's been almost 20 years! YIKES!!

Brandi, I'd also love to help with whatever I can. I'm in CA, though. Just let me know what I can do. And I'll go through my emails and send this site link to everyone I still keep in touch with from school.

Jennifer,
Skippy Aleman was a special needs student. Your right, the name "Skippy" is hard to forget!

Unfortunately, since he didn't take regular classes, he flew under the radar while in school.

He grew up a couple of blocks from my house with his mom. Sadly, his mom passed away a couple of years ago and I have lost track of him.
I will ask for his whereabouts and if I find him, I will let him know of our reunion.

Guys we need recommendations for a park.
It can be in either Las Cruces or El Paso. Any recommendations?

Also, we need to find a DJ?
I can't carry a tune, I don't sing in the shower and, I don't know anything about music!

Can you guys please provide some names/ info? Thanks.

Ok, I will say this...I think that $45 for an entire weekend is unrealistic. Most of us spend that on one dinner. The truth of the matter is that there are deposits to be made and I don't think that Brandi or anyone on the committee should be reponsible for that. We had our family reunion this summer and everyone gave money up front for the deposits and everything was paid for at least 3 months in advance. Whomever pays does not get a refund if they decide not to go. I would rather pay for a catered day at a park than to have to set up, cook and clean up after a night of partying. In the last reunion some of us didn't go to sleep until 5 a.m. and I know Brandi was mad with me when I didn't show up in the morning to set up for the picnic. I have spoken to a few people and they agree with me that they don't mind paying more money for a fun, relaxing weekend. We can set up PayPal so people can pay online.

I agree with Rosa, not just because she is a friend but $45.00 does sound cheap and we all know by now that you get what you pay for. I also agree that Brandi should not get stuck or have to worry about planning a reunion on only $45.00 per person. I think we can have an awesome reunion without throwing all the work on only a few people and allowing them to have a good time too by only paying a little more. I like Rosa's idea on using paypal and spreaing out the money in payments over a longer period. This would alleviate again too much work on only a few people, we can get a better location and give everyone an excellent experience. Any location a person rents to have a dinner-party, requires a deposit and one person should not have to worry about coming up with that just because it sounds too expensive. If we all gave half of the money now and the rest later we can get a better location that offers better services and less headaches for the person or person's who are going to do all the work. We all know that when it comes down to it, only a few will put in the work and time. I think if we can find a way to lessen the work by paying a little more everyone can have a good time.

I really think the goal should be to include as many people as possible in this. There are a few things to consider when you think about the group as a whole:

1. Many people will have to incur travel expenses if they want to attend.
2. In addition to the $45 price tag, there will be the expense of baby sitters, semi-formal clothing, etc. for the weekend.
3. Many people have multiple children, family members, etc. to pay for if they plan on going to the Sunday picnic
4. Anyone who has gone out for drinks lately knows it is easy to throw down $100 or more for a night out, especially for a couple.

I am planning our vacation around the reunion because I have family in El Paso/New Mexico that I can see while I am there, but even for some folks who are local, the weekend can cost quite a bit if they are on a budget. I would hate for someone to feel they cannot attend due to finances. The installment plan is a good idea and hopefully it will make attendance feasible for everyone.

I agree with you Jennifer. We have a lot of time to get the exact figure of what it will cost and then people can pay in payments so that by the time of the reunion everything will be paid and those who can't pay in one lump sum can fit it into their budget.

These are all really good suggestions. We were going to set up paypal, so that wasn't an issue, the real issue is that people are procrastinators. Yes, I totally agree that the best idea is to have a stress free weekend where no one person has the burden of having to carry the bulk of the load. I'm more than willing to pay $75 or even $100 per person to have everything taken care of; the issue is that we've got to come up with about $1723.00 as a deposit for Grace Gardens, then make payments monthly.

From experience at the last reunion, people typically don't purchase their tickets until about a month before the reunion. By that time, the committee will have paid about $7,000, which means that 90% of people will have had to pay for their tickets. This is TOTALLY unrealistic. Unless we can find someone willing to shoulder the financial responsibility, this is not feasible for me.
