Last reunion didn't we do some fundraisers?

Let's just have a bonfire out in the desert and everyone take their own drinks and sack lunch. Someone can bring a radio. LOL

I agree with Rosa!!!! Party at the Dunes. If we go that route...Russell Williams can set everything up for about $5 per person. :)

If a family picnic on Sunday is going to be too bothersome for everyone (meaning committee members showing up early on Sunday for set up, suitable venue, costs, food options, entertainment for kids, and clean up) after having been out late at the party the night before, maybe we can skip the picnic altogether. The intent is for everyone to have a great time and not for the committee members and a few other volunteers to shoulder the burden of the Sunday event. I remember this being an issue at the last reunion. Maybe we can just get together in informal groups on Sunday if we feel like it. What does everyone think?

Jen, I think that sounds like a good idea. Hardly anyone showed up for the picnic. Do our kids really care who we went to high school with? This could save money. It would be better to give money to the school to help the students and faculty.

Those are both good ideas! I like the idea of no overhead! Would a few classmates be willing to host informal get togethers at their houses?

Susana Martinez (Nanez)

Susie,
I agree with everyone, especially Javier. LOL... Doing away with Sunday picnic would get rid of so much work, more money available for Saturday, and well an overall better time. Getting together in small groups at the individual's discretion is also a good idea.

A note to Brandi, thank you , no really thank you, for reminding everyone of the worst moment in my life. JK! I look like my mother. What was happening in that picture everyone's hair looks bad.

I think that everyone is OVER-THINKING Sunday. Although our children do not care who we went to school with, I think it is important to introduce them to people that helped shape our lives, values, etc. So, with that being said, Sunday should be a social gathering that needs to be catered, (yes, I know, more money). But, I think that most of us can afford to pay. This needs to be a stress free weekend. You can simply ask Sonic or Wendy's or Fudruckers or Pizza Hut to produce tons of food and have them deliver to a park.

As for giving back to the community...I am all for setting up a scholarship fund, BUT Gadsden High is not set-up with the communities we had before. There is now a Chaparral High and Santa Teresa High. Do we donate every year to all three schools? Too many questions, but I would love to address this issue with interested classmates during this weekend.

Awww Susie - I'm sorry! But at least I didn't post it anywhere! For your and Rosa's eyes only..

We still haven't thrown out the possibility of day 3...we're looking into some new, very LOW overhead options. Stay tuned. We've got lots of great feedback and we're taking it all into account.

As far as the donation for the school - I think the donation should stick with the school we graduated from. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a scholarship. We're asking the school where the money should be spent.

What if we all meet (preferably after 2-3pm) informally at Peter Piper on Sunday for those who want to go? It can be totally optional. We all pay for our own families and the kids can tear up the place while we recover from our hangovers. Pitchers of beer anyone? LOL

Brandi,
Sorry! I know it was only for our eyes. Honestly, I thought it was freaking funny. My sisters' doing by the way. Back to Picnic. The westside has a new park with recreational center and it is very nice. I can see about reserving the space and maybe getting Rudy's barbecue to cater. We do Rudy's for our oldest football games and it works out to be about $20.00 per person for about 300 people. I believe Rudy's will set up and we serve. I can get more information if you all think this is feasable.
Susie.

Susie, Victor already got a quote for Rudy's and they would do something for us for $10 per person. That should work. He's also checking on the Wyndham.

Rudy's....mmmmmmmmm. That would work out quite well. I think the picnic is still a good idea. Not only do our kids get the meet the centerpieces of familiar high-school lore, but proud parents get to show off their kids (speaking for myself, the main reason for a family picnic.) I think attendance would be good. We're not all going to be "crudos". Well, maybe me and Russell will. Seriously, we're all pushing 40 and not the party animals we were at our tenth. Shoot, Susie and I like to hit the 4 p.m. dinner special at Denny's and hit the hay by 8. That's if my rheumatism isn't acting up.

Speaking of Russell Williams, Sammy and I ran into him this weekend at the Aggie/ Lobo game.
The "party animal" is living up to his billing!

20 years ago, Russell said he was going to party the rest of his life and looking at his pictures and talking to him this weekend, he is a man of his word!

Russell,
It was good seeing you after all these years. Take care and don't party too hard!

Gary-you are freakin' hillarious! Since I go out approximately 3 times per year and drink maybe 2 drinks each time, I fully plan to make this a party weekend. Look out everyone-I plan to have 4 drinks per night. I will most likely be dancing without my shoes after 10pm due to my plantar fasciitis, but it will still be good times. I'm pulling out all the stops. Anyone who wants to roll with me is welcome. We'll be the "crudos" of the Sunday picnic. Hopefully it won't start before 2:00 in the afternoon.

Hey Everyone!

I can't wait to see everyone again at our 20 Year Reunion! I have been reading all the messages so far and you guys are hilarious! Some things never change, such as Russell the PartyAnimal Williams. Victor wasn't kidding, he hasn't changed a bit. It's all good.

Oh by the way, I have posted some pictures on my profile from our 10 Year Reunion and at the end I put two pictures from 2nd and 5th Grade at Anthony Elementary. See if you can recognize yourself or anyone else. Enjoy and show them to your kiddos! I'll see you all at the Reunion! Take Care! Sammy

Gary, if you can hook me up to a saline drip, then I can drink all night long and stay hydrated and then I won't be cruda.

I want to have a great time because I drink on New Year's Eve, my birthday and whenever I go to Gary and Susie's house.

Everything is going to work out and we will all have a great time.

Jennifer,

So you're only having four drinks per night? Boy you're pulling out all the stops with that one. That's actually a warm-up for many of us. At least go for a six pack of beer or any other mixed drink. LOL!

Don't worry we'll all be like Gary that night and be in bed by 8:00. I actually go to bed at midnight but I'll make an exception for all of you old fogies!! HA! HA! HA! We're all going to have to wear shirts that say Gadsden Panthers in the front and "I've fallen and I can't get up!" in the back. It's obviously becoming a reality for most of us. Well there's my two cents for the day. I am actually laughing out loud! Sammy

My youngest son was born the week of our tenth reunion; therefore I did not get to attend. I enjoy reading these posts and can't wait to see everyone! I haven't seen most of you since graduation!

Hello GHS Panther Alumni! I've been reding all of these comments and suggestions and it looks like it will be a better reunion this year. I do have to admit that with the 10th year reunion I don't recall all of this communication going on. This is much more organized. In fact I don't remember how I even got around to attend our last reunion.. memory..memory! I am willing to help with the set up for the picnic if that is what is going to take place... heck, take the kids along and help them set up.. I know my daughter would help as well(she better!)Rudy's is awesome and the price is reasonable.

What is Rudy's and whatkind of food is it. Some of us live out of state and haven't been back in a while.

Luis, Rudy's is barbeque. It's good. They give you a choice of sauces from hot to mild....

In reference to Sammy's "I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up" tshirt idea-if I fall, I can actually get up still, it just may take a while (and probably won't look very graceful)! I have been cracking up while reading everyone's postings. For me-I'm still mentally 17 yrs old, but the physical part is way ahead of that. I think it's embarrassing for my daughter (she's 17) because I've become "that parent" that laughs and jokes with her friends. I sometimes forget I'm 20 years older than they are! They all love me though, so it's all good. If not for my crazy kids, I'd probably be acting like a senora!

Speaking of crazy kids...Rosa needs to post some of the stuff her little one says. She is soooo funny! I think we are kindred spirits!

Hola, hola, hola, hola!!!! Well here I am! Looking forward to a great reunion!

Let's try to be a little less wild, we are 37 years old now for the sake of Pete. Who's Pete? Anyway...can't wait to see you ALL!

Gary...don't I owe you money???? LOL!!! I guess I'll have to pay interest...hmmmm....lol...just kidding Susie! This comment stems from the picture in the slides!

Love you all,

Dude. You owe me fifty bucks. I'm gonna be like the paperboy in "Better Off Dead" who kept asking for his two dollars. Except in this case it's..well.. fifty.
