All 3 daughters are musical and the youngest attends Elmhurst College as a vocal jazz and cello student. The grandchildren are a big part of our lives with Lily (9), Will (5) and Alex about to turn 3.

Do you volunteer, work with any organizations or belong to any clubs?

Danish Sisterhood, Dagmar Lodge 4 in Chicago; Volunteer at Allendale's Hidden Treasures Boutique; member of Grayslake Historical Society, supporter of Love INC of Lake County

What is the most interesting job you have held since high school?

My current job, although substitute teaching was by far the most varied job I've ever had!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to hang out with the family, read, play music, garden and write (working on my first novel.) I'm the trombonist on Rich Rubietta's Resting Place CD and a contributor in the book "I Believe in Healing" by Cecil Murphey and Twila Belk.

What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment since high school?

Successfully raising 3 musical children - not an easy task in this day and age. After that, finishing my BA from Trinity International University and being married for more than 3 decades which I attribute to as a miracle from God, whom I've been with for 29 years now.

Tell us something that would surprise your classmates.

I absolutely love being a young Nani, although grandparenthood is much different than I expected!

What is the one thing you know now that you wish you knew in high school?

I wish I'd known how amazingly beautiful being young really is and how much limitless energy is at hand!

What is the one thing you would do different if you could go back?

I would not have gotten braces at 16, believe it or not. It really made me struggle musically for the next 10 years.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?

Without a doubt, Mr. John Whitehurst for always challenging me in English class and making me work for my grades!
