After HS I went to UW-Madison and spent a semester studying abroad in Florence. Italy is an awesome place to be when you're 21! Graduated with a degree in Marketing and spent 3 months doing an internship in Poland and then spent more time traveling in Europe. Realizing my parents weren't going to support my travels indefinitely; I came back to WI and worked in tourism in Milwaukee and Madison for a few years. I didn't make a lot of money but there were good travel benefits (weekends golfing in England, skiing in Switzerland, snorkeling in the Caribbean, sunbathing and shopping on the French Riviera). It was a fun way to spend my 20s!
Getting more serious about my career, I went back to get my MBA. As it turns out, the souvenir I brought back from my internship at BMW in Munich wasn't a car (Im a soccer mom these days scooting around town in the minivan I swore I would never drive); it was my husband Holger. After a lot of thought we decided to live in US. I found a job in marketing at FedEx in Memphis. It's not a hotbed for the telecommunications industry so we moved to Dallas where Holger got a job in his field in 2001.
I worked for The Staubach Company until July 2008 when we merged with Jones Lang LaSalle. I managed to stay employed and even though HQ is in Chicago, I am working on corporate marketing out of Dallas. I've already been to Chicago once during the transition and am hopeful work will bring me closer to Wisconsin on a regular basis.
As a family try to make it to Appleton a few times a year to visit family and friends.
