Other rememberances

On a more serious note, let's keep some of our classmates in our hearts & prayers as they are recovering from recent losses.

Debbie Benard Nichols & Karl Nichols lost their middle son, Jason, in an automobile accident in September. He was 28.

Dorothy Robinson Keesey lost her brother Dickie in November.

Feel free to add others you may know of.

Although she left us for private school before she ever got to Blazer, many of us have fond memories of Libby Norris (even those of us who went to Putman).

She died many years ago in a plane crash in NC. She was a fine lady.

I had no idea that Libby had died. We used to hang out some in Jr. High. Was she married? Kids?

Libby was married. I'm not sure about kids. She and her husband both died in the accident. Another tragic plane crash also killed Liz Harvey and her husband.

I was told that Liz Harvey was killed in a car wreck fire not a plane crash. Her husband was not with her. Neither she nor Libby had children.

Susan - I was wrong. Lizzie's was a carwreck (in Lake Wales) but her husband was also with her and he was also killed.
Pam was in Ashland Tgiving of 2007 (?) and she and Liz Curnutte and I went thru the basement/bomb shelter with Sam and found so many funny things that Lizzie had stashed. She was a riot. I know she is missed by many.

Libby and her husband Glen were friends of mine when I lived in Nashvile. She had gone home that weekend to see her parents. My girlfriend in Nashville called me on that Saturday mornning and said on the news station they were talking about a flight that the plane exploded on the runway. We knew it was their plane. I attended the memorial services in Nashville. I think of them always.

Connie Ausbun and Jamie Ausbun both came to Blazer from Michigan our junior year. Connie was a sophmore and Jamie a senior. Connie was a nurse and on her way to work one morning in the early 90's, slid on black ice and was killed. Her sister Jamie was on the highway about 1 year later and stopped for an accident, got out of her car to check on those who were hurt and was fatally struck by a tractor trailor. This tragedy took two fine ladies and both were wonderful mother's of 2 small children each.

Libby Norris and I were inseperable in Junior High School...great friend....Think of her often.

I believe she was killed not too long after she had married a guy that she dated at Vanderbilt...they were on there way to visit Suzie Norris in California and were on a small plane that crashed....way too young....very sad.

We love and miss you Libby!!!

Does any body remember Bruce Jordan in Jr High at Coles.
He was such a nice guy. He went to heaven way too early in life.

That name sounds so familiar can't picture the face though...been too long. What happened to him?

Bruce was a light skinned black guy with the same skin condition as Micheal Jackson. He had a lot of pain from that and missed some school because of it.
From what I remember he had a guitar and it had a short in it.
His parents were gone and his older sister was watching him. He got mad at her for something and went to play the guitar.
He got electricuted, the guitar went up in the air and when it came down the strap choked him.
I can't remember if that was 8th grade but I think it was.
He had a great since of humor and left a lasting impression on me.

I remember that very well. Bruce and I were good friends, that really got to me when he died. I remember having to leave a class he and I shared because I was so upset.

I certainly remember Bruce. Such a nice guy and very, very funny. I'm with you Nancy, very upsetting when that happened - we were so young (Jr. High) to be losing a classmate.

John Phillips was actually riding a mini bike & was struck by a motorcycle and killed off of 45th Street while we were in Coles 8th or 9th grade.

There is a picture of John Phillips in grade school on my profile. John always sat behind me in 6th grade he always messed with my long hair. It would drive me crazy and he knew it, but sometimes he was funny and would get in trouble with the teacher (I felt that was my little get even time).

Another person I would like to mention is Mary Lynn Donaldson. She was a grade ahead of us. She lived two houses down from me and we became great friends. She and Robin Hemlepp are responsible for me playing the trumpet. I wanted to be just like them.
Mary was on her 2nd marriage unhappily. The story from the husband is that she went outside in the car and shot herself in the head. As her parents cleaned the house a lot of blood was found all over the house. The suspicion is that he did it and dragged her outside.
Either way it was a sad thing and I think about her often and how her parents and brother Gary have had to go on without her.

I remember her. Makes me sad to know that happened.

How about something by Todd Rundgren?

This happened when I was going to UK so about 1982 or 83. I remember my mother would not allow me to come home. My Mom had to go tell her parents cause they couldn't get ahold of them. She lived close to South Ashland (like off 29th??) she was taken to one of the Huntington hospitals I think St Mary's. She lived a day or so.
Her parents still live in the same house on Nottingham and her brother lives up the street in David and Lisa Conley's old house.
