I stayed in Ashland for one year after graduation & then lived in Lynchburg, VA for a semester. I moved to Lexington in August of 1981 to go to UK & have been here ever since.
I started working for Columbia Gas of KY in October 1984 & my time with Columbia / NiSource ended in October of 2011.
I now work the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) as an Environmental Initiatives Specialist in the Environmental Policy Division. I have been with LFUCG since July 2012.
I met my wife, Donna, in May of 1991. We married on September 19th, 1992. Donna spent 31 years with United States Post Office & took early retirement on 07/31/2012 & now also works for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) in the Division of Planning. Donna is originally from Marion County & grew up in the Lebanon area. She is 1 of 9 children (5 girls & 4 boys).
I have a wonderful step-daughter (who is like my own). Her name is Stephanie Renee' Mattingly. Stephanie was born on 12/15/1984. She is a graduate of Georgetown College majoring in Accounting & works for EY (formerly Ernst & Young) in their auditing department. Stephanie lives in Tampa, FL & is married to Sam Richardson (05/29/2010). I uploaded one of their wedding pictures to my page. Stephanie & Sam now have a daughter, Harlow Page Richardson, who was born on 08/22/2016.
Our son's name is Morgan Chandler Lewis & he was born on 10/08/1994. Morgan is currently a freshman at Morehead State University majoring in Sports Management. He loves sports & is a good athlete. We're both huge pro football fans. My team has been the Miami Dolphins since I was 6 years old. Morgan likes the Dolphins too.
I was raised by my grandparents, growing up on Moore Street. My grandfather, Arnold Lewis, passed away in 1981, & my grandmother, Lillian Lewis, died in 1996. My Mom & Dad, who are deaf, are still alive & now live in Winchester, KY.
My brother, Don Lewis, lives in Orlando, FL & has been in that area since 1986. He's divorced & has a son, Justin Lewis, who was born 05/19/1996.
I think the funniest story is when Mike Duley took down the ladder off of Building One when the school superintendent was up there with others inspecting the roof leak!
Another one I remember is standing on top of the parking lot hill trying to figure out why Lisa Daniel was trying to get into my car & then realizing that she thought it was hers! We both had 1977 Buick Regals that were brown with tan tops. I think I remember scaring her to death when I came up behind her & gave her a hard time for trying to get into my car.
I still see a few people from the area like Brian James, Mike Duley, Larry & Gary Sennett, but don't really hang around with anyone we graduated with.
FCA, Key Club, & I can't remember anything else.
Mr. Trabandt
1971 Chevrolet Impala
I thought I was going to be in the ministry, but that wasn't what worked out.
Donna & I were introduced to each other by a mutual friend & went out the 1st time as a blind date. We had dinner at Applebee's on Nicholasville Road here in Lexington. She had been divorced for a while & I honestly wasn't looking for an instant family, but we clicked & have been together ever since.
Very rarely now.
Come Sail Away by Styx.
I'm a big fan of the 80's music. I guess my favorite would be Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi.
Hawaii (Oahu & Maui) in 2005.
I saw a ton of concerts, but I would have to say the best one was the Journey concert in 1985 at Rupp Arena. I went with a bunch of friends.
I began officiating basketball when I moved to Lexington & I have been doing that the entire time I've lived here in Lexington. I currently officiate high school & small college basketball. I belong to the Bluegrass Basketball Association (BBA) for high school & we cover Regions 10 & 11. I also officiate on the collegiate level in the MSC, KIAC, & SAA. Coach Mike Flynn gave me the privilege to come back to Ashland & officiate in the Ashland Invitational Tournament in 1998 - 2002 & 2004.
To travel overseas, especially to Europe & Australia.
Music that makes people remember the happy times because that is how I want to be remembered.
