Doug Fike

Douglas D. Fike, 75 of Ashland passed away on July 31, 2024 in his home with his wife at his side.
He was born on October 24, 1948 in Ashland, the son of the late Wilbur and Phyllis (nee Summerton) Fike.
Doug graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1967. Following his graduation, Doug proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and awarded a Bronze Star for his commitment.
He married the love of his life, the former Carol Dilgard on January 6, 1968.
After more than 30 years he retired in 2014. Doug was employed at Rable Machine as a CNC operator and previously at Norris Marathon as a mechanic.
Throughout his life, he was an avid dirt track racing enthusiast, both as a competitor and a spectator. He bowled in a league at King Lanes and Luray Lanes for many years and loved to golf at Brookside. Doug was a loving husband, dad, and affectionately known as Pop's to his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol Fike of Ashland; two sons, Scott Fike of Ashland and Andy (Jessi Martin) Fike of Plymouth; four grandchildren, Ethan (Julia Porr) Fike of Columbus, Owen Fike of Ashland, Zack Wilson of Plymouth, and Mason (fiancée Kaela Plank) Martin of Shelby; his chocolate lab and canine companion, Sophie; and two sisters, Sharon Dennison of Ashland and Evelyn Mason of Ashland.
In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Fike Sr. and David Fike.
