Arden Suzanne Lucas Pearce died May 16th, 2025 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky following a long illness. She passed peacefully and without pain, her loving family by her side.
Arden was born in Johnstown, PA on March 18, 1949, to Edwin D Lucas and Dorothy Hawxhurst Lucas. On July 6th, 1974 she wed William David Pearce in Ashland, Ohio and they remained married for 45 years until his passing in 2019. She is also preceded in death by her parents, sister Marjorie and nephews Donald and John.
Graduating from Ashland High School in 1967, Arden went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from Baldwin Wallace and later a master’s degree from Heidelberg University. She started her fruitful career in Toledo in 1971 and a few years later began teaching in Clyde as a special reading teacher, a position she held for over 30 years until her retirement in 2005. Known for her patience and kindness, Mrs. Pearce gave countless students the lifelong gift of literacy and touched many lives throughout her distinguished career.
Arden was most appreciated and loved by her surviving children Andy and Maggie of Clyde who would like to extend a warm thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of Fireland's Regional Medical Center and Stein Hospice, whose kindness and professionalism helped make her final months comfortable and dignified.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 23rd at Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio from 4-8:00 PM. A private service will be held on Saturday with burial to follow at Bakertown Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Clyde Public Library and the Sandusky County Humane Society.
