Greg was a great guy who i knew from elementary school on through MA. We all knew he was a terrific Olympic swimmer and had a lovely wife, and that he left us way too soon. We will all think of him fondly this October at the 50th reunion. Best to his family, Elaine Zahnd (Steinmetz)
I really became close friends with Greg after our years at MA ... down at San Jose State. He was a fantastic person. Later, I moved to the East coast. When I learned that he'd passed away, it was like falling out of bed in a strange room in the middle of the night. It was troubling: some people seem to be touched by gold. Is that why they are so often taken away from us too soon? He did an awful lot with the years he had, drew people to him wherever he went, and lived life to the fullest. I remember him with admiraton and affectation. Thanks for commenting, Elaine. If I hadn't seen yours, I might not have offered mine ... :-)
I adored Greg! I so looked up to him. He was always so nice, not to mention good looking! Our parents were friends and I remember going to his house for parties when the teens were included and I remember the lovely pavilion they had by the pool and his brothers Jeff and Lindsey. I have a vivid memory of talking with Greg and listening to his little brother Lindsey play drums in the pavilion..guess his family's indulgence paid off to spawn such a great musical addition to The Fleetwood Mac! I remember Greg on swim team and how good he was. I heard that he passed away several years ago, way to soon. He truly was a "Golden Boy".......he left us way too soon... I would have loved to talk with him again at our 50th Reunion!

My mother just told me that I learned how to swim at Greg's house when I was a kid at Encinal. What a nice memory!
