Larry and I were friends.  I think we went bowling a couple of times...but mostly he sat next to me in biology or other classed and we partnered up so that he would disect the frogs and I would write about it.  Good Team.

At our 25th reunion we compared notes on our lives.  I had 4 kids he had three of his own and four step children.  I recieved the honor of being chosen the alum with the most kids in our class.  We both thought that was unfair.  Since them I remarried a man with four children.  I was really looking forward to teasing him about the possibility that I might trump him again.  Really so terribly sorry that he is not with us any longer.

I loved him as a true high school friend...all the ones who sit next to you in class, share their erasers and jibs...and can be counted on to make you feel accepted at a time when were all on tender hooks about ourselves.  Here's to Larry!!!

Jim and I lived in the same neighborhood growing up - Go Hillview!  I did not spend much time in high school with Jim - but we spent some fun weekends at Mammoth and June Mountain - he was going to UCLA - Graduate School and I was living in Brentwood and teaching in East Los Angeles - somehow we found out we were both down in LA and started skiing together - one Christmas Holiday we spent at Tahoe - we lost contact - but I was sad to hear that he had passed away - but when I heard that he died on a ski slope - he enjoyed his skiing - what a way to go!  I want on that list that has you die doing something you enjoy.  Jim will be missed at our 50th Class Reunion.  Oh, I forgot to mention that Jim and I went to our 20th Class Reunion together - since neither one of us had an escort  - I remember I forgot my purse in the car and made Jim buy my drinks at the reunion.  Jim was not a happy camper but I was having quite a time!  At least Jim got to experience fatherhood - and I am sure he enjoyed being a husband and father. Jim, thanks for the memories!

Jim was a friend of mine. I first met him between 8th grade and our freshman year in high school.  At the time they had a program for qualified students to take first year Algebra while in 8th grade. This included attending a summer course before high school started. A bunch of us from Hillview, Oak Knoll and Encinal were in this summer Algebra class together. We had a great time that summer and had a pool party at the end.

Another memory I have of Jim involved a certain group of Holy Cross girls who we had met because Rick Crockett was dating one of them. We hung out with them at the Palo Alto home of one who had an indulgent mom - listening to records, dancing. They were intrigued by public school boys and we were happy to play the role.

It turns out they were having a slumber party one night. Jim, Rick, Mike Felts and I snuck out at 1am, met up and drove over to the slumber party. There we collected the young ladies attired in nightgowns and slippers. Somehow eight of us fit in Rick's big Mercury convertible and we drove over to the Cactus Gardens at Stanford where we parked. It wasn't long before campus police pulled up alongside with flashlights. Phone calls were made, etc. Needless to say, we were busted big-time. I think we were all grounded by our parents for a month. Jim came from a very conservative religious family and he was grounded for at least two months.

Miss you Jim.
