I found this while researching if Steve was a relative of golfer Brant Snediker.  Steve was a elementary and junior high classmate, as well as at MA... sounds like he did himself proud:

Steve Snedeker

Steve Snedeker passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31 in Paradise. He was 59. Steve was born on Jan. 2, 1946 in Palo Alto to Virginia and Harold Snedeker. Steve grew up in Menlo Park and graduated from Menlo Atherton High School in 1963. After graduating from high school Steve attended Chico State. Steve received his bachelor's degree in 1967 in English, a teaching credential in 1972, and a master's degree in Corrections in 1976. He continued his educational studies at California State University, Sacramento, receiving his administrative services credential in 1988 and his second master's degree in Educational Administration in 1992. Steve served in the Navy Reserve in 1969.

Steve was employed as Principal of Fort Bragg High School for the past 10 years. Steve was Assistant Principal at Colusa High School (1994-96), Bilingual Resource Specialist for Butte County Office of Education (1982-1994), Teacher/English Language for Woodland Adult Education (1989-1993), Teacher/Counselor in Priest River, Idaho (1978-82), Teacher at Fouts Springs Boys Ranch in Stonyford (1972-1973), and an English Instructor at Chico State (1967-1969). Steve served in education for 38 years.

Steve was an outstanding educational leader. He was a valued member of his staff and an integral part of the school community. Steve was committed to all students, teachers and staff members he worked with. Steve's first and only consideration was always "what's best for the students." His character strengths were demonstrated in his keen intellect, a sense of humor, resourcefulness, work ethic and a commitment to improving public education. He was proud of his experience working with Hispanic students and their families and his ability to speak Spanish fluently, which served him well in working in public education.

Steve leaves behind his loving wife of 10 years, Debby. His two children, Darin and Kari Snedeker; five stepchildren, Paul Linton, Nicholas Driessel, Melissa Mallen, Rebecca Driessel, Jacob Driessel. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Snedeker; three brothers, Scott, Mark, and Eric Snedeker. His father, Harold preceded him in death in 1972. Steve was supported in life with many nieces, nephews, and relatives who will deeply miss him.

The family has asked that any donations may be made to Fort Bragg High School/ ESL program in memory of Steve. Mailing address: Fort Bragg High School, 300 Dana Street, Fort Bragg, California 95437-4597. A public memorial is planned in Fort Bragg on Jan. 21, 2 p.m. at the Eagles Hall Building (210 North Corry St., Fort Bragg).

I spent quite a bit of time with Steve during our senior year in high school - he was a good friend of Don Collyer's, who I dated most of my senior year and Freshman year in college.  I remember Steve with a great smile!  I lost contact with him and was looking forward to visiting with him at the reunion.  I just never dreamed that a Steve would be such an influence on our youth.  It sounded like Steve was very well respected in his community.  Steve, thank you for your being there for our youth - and you will be missed at the reunion!  Thanks for being such a good friend to Don!
