OBITUARY
Renae Erber Goldberg passed away on April 14, 2019. She was born in Atlanta in 1947 to Mary Karlick Erber(obm) and Leo Erber(obm). A proud second-generation native of Atlanta, she leaves behind her loving husband, Edward, her adoring children Cari and Jonathan Newman and her beloved grandchildren, Aviv and Gavri Newman. An only child, Renae will also be missed by her large extended family in Atlanta, Florida, New York, Massachusetts, and Israel, and by her family-by-marriage which she adopted as her own including siblings-in-law Herb and Phyllis Goldberg, and Sandy and Norma Goldberg. Renae was a graduate of Henry Grady High School and Dekalb College, and she attended The University of Tennessee. A consummate people person and an incredible organizer, she worked as office administrator for several businesses and non-profits in the Atlanta area, and as a founder and board member of Congregation B’nai Torah in Sandy Springs. Renae was a talented graphic design artist and entrepreneur, starting and running a successful typesetting and graphic design business. As a family cook, Renae filled many a satisfied belly with her home cooked food and baked goods. She loved nurturing and caring for others, whether it was with her sublime carrot casserole at countless holiday meals, or her patient, attentive ear in a conversation with a friend. Renae brought her larger-than-life personality into every room she entered, blending charm, class, and a terrific sense of humor. Renae and her husband Eddie took great pleasure in raising their daughter, building homes, and traveling to over 50 countries. Her greatest joys were her relationship with her daughter Cari and being Savta to her grandchildren, Aviv and Gavri; the love they each felt for each other was immediate, deep, and sustaining. Donations may be made to Congregation B’nai Torah Congregant Support Fund, The American Cancer Society, Winship Cancer Center, or the charity of your choice.

Our 50th Reunion gave me a chance to re-connect with Renae and get ot know Eddie. So thankful that we had some really good phone conversations as well at some time together at the Reunion. Renae was in Mrs Holt's 4th Grade Class at Morningside. Renae was able to be there when we re-made the photo of our class. She was so vibrant and made us all feel so good that evening. We will miss her deeply.

I hadn't seen Renae in years and barely got to see her at our reunion. She was so happy and busy checking out each table ... hostessing ... as if the reunion was her party. She was amazing ... truly amazing. Making everyone feel welcomed and ready to party. Wish I had had more time with her to catch up.
I left Atlanta for New Jersey after marrying Steve 8/1969 and graguating University of Tennessee with my husband 6/1970. I traveled south, often with my kids, to visit family and friiends. Everytime I saw my mother, Selma Singer, she would have something nice to say about Renae and tell me about seeing her somewhere in Atlanta. Seems they had a relationship far lasting my life in Atlanta.
I send my deepest condolences to Renae's family. I will miss her southern charm, her unique zaniness. her tremendous love for family and friends and her special way of making you feel so happy when with her.

Certainly the words "larger than life personality" were very fitting for Renae. I can still hear her laughter when she was amused about something and remember just being so happy to see her at the 50th. She really did make me smile with her obvious joy about being there.

Loved Renae and was so sorry to hear of her passing. She was full of life at Grady. I haven't seen her but we communicated on FB often. Prayers for her family
