Mary Ann Pittman Gregory

My husband and I have been living in Hickory, N.C. since 1969. My education included an undergraduate degree from Queens University (Charlotte,N.C.) and a Master's Degree from Appalachian State University. After teaching elementary school for 40 years and substitute teaching for 3 years I'm finally retired. When I was younger I had a second job as well. Teaching aerobics as an independent contractor was something I enjoyed for 20 years. Having taken ballet when I was young, I now love taking ballet barre classes. Being involved in volunteer work consumes a lot of my time. As a member of the board of our local humane society I'm in charge of special events that generate money and awareness. Hickory Landmarks Society has several restored properties. Dressed in turn of the century clothing I conduct tours through the homes. Travel adventures have always been a big part of our lives. We usually travel out of the country once a year.
I look forward to the reunion. I want to connect with people I knew well and those that I never had the opportunity to really know. It will be such fun.

Mrs. Barnes - On your birthday she told some silly story and caused the student some embarrassment.(I remember something about stars in the sky.)

Mr. Derthick(sp/-?) At a pep rally he would often sing You've Gotta Have Heart. I now know that the song is from the broadway show Damn Yankees.
Mrs. East - I did some project with hamsters and another with chickens. We had to inject them under the wing with hormones I think. I remember practicing many times giving pieces of fruit a shot.
