   To all who knew her,

What a dear and kind soul she was throughout her life. Always soft spoken and

smiling no matter what the situation or mood. I just wish that I could have said

hello, good morning, or how are you today just one more time... I remember the

first days of kindergarden with her, gone too soon. We all loved you.

Always your friend Carla,

Don Moore

It was almost impossible to drive on North Highland Avenue without seeing Carla walking at a rapid pace.  She was a walker supreme before it became popular.  She was signed up to attend our 50th Reunion and was looking forward to being with everyone.  Sadly, she became ill just a few days before the event, and was unable to attend.

I knew and liked Carla and from Grady. I also knew her Father, Jerry Sobelson and brother Neil from my part-time bag boy job at the A&P on Highland Ave. at St. Charles. Like Alvin I saw Carla downtown many times doing her race walking thing. I liked all the Sobelsons and I am very sorry to learn of her passing.

I was heart broken when reading about Carla. We were friends and throughout her years at Grady she was alwaysone of the sweetest and kindest people I have known.  It is sad to think of all those classmates who have passed and realizing that on any given day anything can happen.  It is really important that we  making sure to let those all cherish each day as a gift and we care about how we feel, including our classmates. Carla, you will not be forgotten.

Carla and I were classmates at S.M. Inman and at Grady. She was a quiet, friendly student whose cup was always half full. It is a shame that she wasn't able to attend our 50th reunion. Her passing is so sad. She will be missed.

A kind soul.   I looked forward to seeing her in her track shoes at lunchtime near Five Points when my office was downtow.  She had a ready smile and a "Hello, Bill" as she went by.

Carla Sobelson was a bright, big hearted, and quiet person who touched my life. I have fond memories of how Carla and her family were so very gracious to me, also offering their hospitality, and sharing their warmth and kindness. Carla had a great sense of humor, subtle, but memorable. I'll always picture her giving way to a giggle and covering her mouth with her hand. We've lost a unique woman with a good soul.
