Linda Tyrrell (Riblet)

SKANEATELES — Linda J. Riblet of Skaneateles passed away on Friday, June 23, at Geneva Hospital. She was born in Torrington, Connecticut, on Nov. 20, 1942. Daughter of H. Elizabeth and Robert G. Tyrrell Sr., Linda received a B.A. and a M.A. from the State University of New York at Albany where she was a member of Chi Sigma Theta sorority. She also went on to study at McGill University in Montréal Canada and at I’Université de Dijon in France on scholarship awarded by I’Association des professeurs francais en Amérique. Linda traveled widely in Europe and particularly in France. She had a long career teaching French and Spanish at NYS high schools including Skaneateles Central High School and Auburn Comprehensive High School. She was a member of ATA, NYSUT, NYSAFLT, CORN, NYRTA and AFT. She retired in 1997 and continued academic pursuits at HSC at SU and at CCC. Linda was an active member of the Skaneateles Music Boosters. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert T. Riblet, in 2008, and brothers Walter Ripley Tyrrell in 1969 and Robert G. Tyrrell Jr. in 2010. Linda is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Catherine Riblet (Jason Emmons); sisters Kathleen McGuire (John) of Dundee, Mary Ellen Ennis (James) of Fairport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
