Cheryl Shosh Gaines Brown passed away February 19, 2026.
Cheryl Lynn Brown, 71 years old, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2026, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and unmistakable sparkle.
Cheryl was born on October 7, 1954, in Reseda, California. Her family moved to Auburn in the early sixties, where she spent most of her life. After graduating from Auburn High School, Cheryl attended Central Washington University.
Cheryl spent 27 years as a Project Manager at Boeing, where her leadership, intelligence, and determination made a lasting impact. She approached her work the same way she approached life – confidently, boldly, and with a belief that things should be done the right way. Cheryl set high standards and was never afraid to speak her mind, qualities that made her both a strong leader and a trusted colleague. Following her retirement, Cheryl became an Ambassador for the Trilogy community in Tehaleh, where she embraced the opportunity to meet new neighbors and formed many meaningful friendships.
A priority in life was her family, whom she deeply loved, including her beautiful extended families, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Brown, children Charles Stanfill (Amber) and Harrison Stanfill (Kaylee), Emily (Brown) Schwarz (Gary), and Elizabeth Brown; sister Robin Wohlhueter; brother Brad Gaines (Katrina), mother-in-law Marjorie Brown, and father-in-law Donald Brown, sister-in-law Kathy Vincent (Brown); and brother-in-law Joe Vincent.
Cheryl's greatest joy was being a grandparent and great-grandparent to Violet and Zephyr Stanfill, Janie Quinn (Levi), Roxann Olsen (Dan), Emily Dever, Hoyt and Langston Quinn, and Jason Bussey. They were the lights of her life.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that the brightest star in the sky now carries her sparkle. Her spirit, strength, and love will remain with us always.
A Celebration of life for Cheryl will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 410 H Street NE, Auburn, on March 28th at 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Cheryl's name to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
