Thanks for putting this website together, Wendy! I thought the reunion meeting was fun and it was great to see so many people. Hope even more come out for the next meeting -- 8/4 at Lake Region Country Club @ 6pm. Looking forward to the reunion October 4th!

Hey, to all of you planning this reunion, I am sorry if I came across brash or anything other than nice on Myspace. I just got ansy not knowing anything over the last few months and I'm sure others were too. I realize everyone has lives to lead, so with that in mind, let's make this 20 the best reunion we can. Good job on the website BTW.

Trust us. It will be worth every dollar! Besides, how many 20-year reunions do you get, right? :-)

A charming atmosphere in a classic location, delectible food and beverages, lively entertainment, fabulous door prizes, and the opportunity to socialize with the best graduating class of Auburndale Senior High School. I'd say that $150 per couple is QUITE the bargain! I've even committed to a "Gold Sponsorship" so I can attend the VIP cocktail reception and take home some swag! :-)

Thanks for your comments, Bill. Right now, I can't afford $150 to go to what amounts to a party. Yes, I am sure that it will be smashing and all the "extras" will be well worth the money, but if someone doesn't have it to spend, well... it really doesn't matter much. As for going to the meetings, there are some of us that reside out of town and are unable to make week night meetings. If there had been a weekend one, I would have made every effort to attend. In any event, if there is a Friday night social, keep me in the loop.

Hi EVERYONE!
Wendy the site looks awesome! I am so glad that the plans for a reunion finally took off!!!!
Unfortnately, I have to agree with others about the price. I can afford the $75 and the $150, but unfortunately I just moved away from Florida and with the hubby traveling all the time, childcare would be an issue for me. I was REALLY looking forward in seeing everyone :o( For whatever reason the price being set at $75, I'm sure that it will be a beautiful event. This being said, I must include this: I thought the purpose of a reunion was for everyone (or as many as possible) could get together! It's just sad that the price is not lower and more condusive for people who struggle with money that they would also be able to attend. Especially, for people all over the US having to pay for the gas, airfare, hotels, etc. So many people that I have talked with were/are more interested in just seeing everyone and keeping it VERY casual and would be happy with just meetng up somewhere. Oh well, maybe I'll be able to attend the 25 years. I hope to see lots of pictures.

Please pray for Dale Liggett (Lefever) AHS c/o 88

Here is an email his girlfriend Chrissy sent my wife last night.
August 26th 2008

Hi
I am so sorry to let you know this way, but on August 2nd Dale was in a severe jet ski accident. He broke 7 ribs and collapsed his left lung. He was in the SICU unit at Lakeland Regional. He had gone on a ventilator to help keep him breathing. On the following evening his right lung fulled up with fluid causing the right lung to go in to distress. He also had a grand mal seizure. After two weeks of being on a ventilator, the doctors put a trac in. He had been heavily medicated and was in a deep sleep for 3 weeks.

About five days ago, he woke up and started to progress back to his self. He was taken off the ventilator and is now breathing on his own! THANK ALMIGHTY GOD!!!! He still has 2 chest tubes in and still has the trac in but no machine breathing for him he is doing all the work. He remains in the hospital in the trauma unit now. We are working getting him able to walk and soon get the trac out.

Please keep my Daley in your prayers!
I do hope you are doing well. and my God be with you and your family.

Chrissy

First, let me say I was very sorry to hear about Dale, and I hope that he makes a full recovery. He will be in my thoughts and prayers until then. David, thank you for letting us know and please keep us posted on his progress.

As far as the reunion is concerned, I am sorry to hear that some of you feel the price is too expensive. We just wanted to have a nice, elegant evening out for our 20th reunion (at this point in our lives) and a majority of the committee discussed and approved having it at Lake Region.

One of the reasons we decided not to have it at the civic center was b/c we do not have enough volunteers to do all of the leg work necessary on top of planning it. There are efforts to be made prior to the event, all of the setting up the day of the event and all of the clean up after the event. Lake Region, on the other hand, is doing everything for us, for a reasonable price, so that all we have to do is basically show up. So we decided it would be worth the extra charge to have someone else do the work. We actually did some research and found that the price is very comparable to what other classes charge for their 20-year and + reunions. Some classes also charge more for guests who were not in their graduating class (which we are not doing)!

Everyone, it seems at our age especially, leads very busy lives with their spouses, children, work, pets and extracurricular activities. So as far as meetings, if you can't attend the committee meetings, please call in or email your input anytime. We appreciate your constructive comments and suggestions and hope that you keep your input helpful and supportive.

Finally, please remember we are all volunteers. No one is being paid for the time, gas, traveling, or long distance phone calls it takes to get this event accomplished, and we are doing the best we can for our class. Please keep that in mind when you share your comments.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

First let me say that I'm glad the website is getting so much use! :) I would like to add to the comments...I understand that $75 might be a little high for some people. And to answer the question about keeping the price down, we feel like we DID keep the price down. There are many factors that go into planning an event such as this. We are not planning some extravagant evening with all kinds of "extras". We are planning a simple evening of food, music, a photographer and a few decorations. A place where old friends can get together in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy each other's company without yelling over loud music or feeling rushed to leave. If all you're wanting is for someone to post a place and time for people to get together, then we don't need to waste our time planning something formal. First, there were complaints that no one was planning a reunion. Now that we're planning it, people are complaining about the price and the location. I understand that people live out of town and can't physically make the meetings, but every form of communication I've sent so far has always stated that we welcome your feedback, we encourage your feedback, we WANT your feedback, but yet the feedback comes after the fact, in the form of complaints. The decisions that are being made are not by one or two people, but by votes cast by all the people who have been participating in the actual planning. I realize that we won't be able to please everyone, but stuff like is this is very discouraging to the people who have taken the time and energy to try and plan something that everyone will enjoy.

I forgot to mention, we are still planning to suggest a location where everyone can meet on Friday night, however, Tanner's will be closed for rennovations and won't reopen until the end of October. I'm checking into some other places. Stay tuned for more info later....

It sounds like everyone is trying to defend themselves. Before long we will have a big cat fight over something stupid! It is what it is!!! Yes with the economy some will not be able to come to the reunion but they can still get together with their friends the night before, the day of, or the day after. If we can find a place that is casual(jeans & not too expensive) to get together the night before, then everyone can see each other. We have the whole weekend. Everyone can enjoy the time we share even if you are not attending the formal event. This should be a joyous time, not a fight before we even get together. I hope we all can work this out without it getting nasty. Keep in mind...THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

Thank you Larry (and Shannon!).

The next planning meeting is Thursday, September 4th at the Auburndale Public Library at 6:00 pm.

Right now we're trying to focus on items for the raffle and swag (goodie) bags for the VIP party. Anyone who can, please solicit donations of cash or merchandise for these items. You can email me if you have any questions.
