Hi, guys, and thanks for the hard work putting this page and the reunion together. Unfortunately, at that high cost, my husband and I will have to catch you if there is a casual event. His cancer is back in full force and is no longer treatable. He is no longer able to work at all and we are trying to make my teacher's salary stretch each month so we don't have to touch savings and retirement. The fact is, most people in today's economy can't afford such a high cost, but for those of you who are fortunate to do so, I sincerely hope you have a blast.
As SGA sponsor at AHS, I have been in charge of homecoming festivities for the past six years. Last year, the class of 1987, led by Ruben Sanchez, joined the Homecoming Parade Thursday night of Homecoming week (and had on of the best floats in the parade) and was given VIP treatment at the football game. They were even asked to parade their float around the track pre-game Friday night and were introduced to the fans, who got a big kick out of seeing the old folks acting a fool on their float. I don't have the time to coordinate this for the class of 88 with all my responsibilities leading into homecoming week, but if anyone else who is local enough to get together that week feels up to it, let me know and I'll put you in the lineup in a great spot. Class of '87 had a great time. Parade night is Thursday, October 16, the game is Friday the 17th, and the dance is Saturday the 18th. You guys wouldn't believe what we have done with the dance. I'm not kidding when I tell you that the kids flock to the dance and enjoy it more than Prom.
In terms of a more affordable gathering for the reunion, if anyone wants to try to organize a casual event the same weekend as the reunion but a different night, I'd be happy to try and help. I don't think we would need to rent a room or anything, just take an interest poll and find a bar or restaurant that can hold the number of us interested. Tanner's and stuff is to upity anyway - most of us who just want to hang out would be happy to meet up at Beef's or Kazbor's or even Smokin' Jims for that matter, depending on how many of us there are.
Again, the committee is doing a great job and the event sounds very cool, just not the style of many of us and not affordable, either. This website is awesome, no doubt.
