What are the high points of your life since high school?
I moved to California in 1978,when I was 16, after dropping out of Hinkley and William Smith in the 10th grade. As some of you know, those years were difficult for me at home and I was into things I shouldn't have been doing. Anyway, all that changed when I moved to California. I stopped the bad behavior and buckled down. I went back to school, earned a GED, met a man whom I married (divorced 11 years later), worked in a stock brokerage firm, went onto Jr. College where I graduated with honors and an AA degree. Then, I continued my education after working a few years and earned a BA degree in Psychology from Cal State Long Beach. With a college degree in hand, I woked as a counselor for run-away teens and battered women in Hermosa Beach, CA. In 1991 I moved back to Colorado due to termoil in my marriage. After getting divorced and working as a Social Worker for several years, I went back to school yet again and started my own massage therapy business. I worked for the Colorado Athletic Club for several years before opening my private practice. About six years ago I decided I needed a "real" job with benefit, I started working at the Golden facility for boys where I became a teacher through an alternative licensure program. Now, that's what I do. I'm no longer at the juvenile facility, but still teach Special Education. I'm in between jobs right now, but substituting in Jefferson County and hopefully for the City of Littleton very soon. Anyway, I never remarried and never had kids. That's the sad part, but I bought a house in 2004 where I live happily with my cat and hot tub on 3/4 of an acre with a wild life preserve running through the land. I have 3 nephews whom I adore and I'm very close now to all my siblings including Sherilyn, Mark and Christy. All four of us remain very close to both my parents and Hanna (my step-mom and Rick Lucas' mom). I'm healthy and happy and looking forward to reconnecting with people at Hinkley who might (or not) remember me.
