Floyd Miles Jr.
Remembrance/In Memoriam
Bro. Floyd Miles, Jr. was born March 28, 1957 to the late Floyd Miles, Sr. and Ivery Cleotha Miles in Travis County. He departed this life on October 7, 2004. Floyd accepted Christ at an early age and joined Willie Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. He graduated from Reagan High School and attended The University of Texas at Austin. Floyd relocated to Washington D.C. and attended Howard University (music major). He traveled the world extensively performing with the Howard University Choir. Floyd was an active performer of The Washington Opera Society and The Texas State Society. He performed with many famous stars such as Leontyne Price; The Three Tenors, Kathleen Battle and Patti LaBelle. He was a frequent guest performer for Lady Bird Johnson, Presidents Bush and Clinton. Floyd was an active member of the Howard University Ranken, Chapel and Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington, DC where he was a member of the Golden Deed Circle. His career included employment with IBM, as a concierge at the Water Gate Hotel, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. His parents, brother Raymond Everett and sister Marva Gayle preceded him in death. Floyd leaves to cherish his memory two brothers. Hershell Beshay Miles (Lillian) and Wadine Miles (Denise); three sisters, Beverly Jean Miles-Washington (Larry), William Lois Miles (Freda) and Debbie Danielle Miles-Bloxson (Michael); five nieces, three nephews, two great nieces, three great nephews; special aunts, Mary Miles and Verna Mae Boone; uncle Harvey Miles; and many friends including special friends, Arleas Upton Kea, Jayn Bell- Higgins, Bertra Bradford and James Long. Pre-celebration service this evening, 7:00 pm. at King-Tears Mortuary, Inc. Service Saturday, 11:00 a.m. St. James Baptist Church. Interment Cook Walden Capital Parks. King-Tears Mortuary, Inc.
