Sidney Patterson


June 24, 1957 - December 13, 2023

Sidney Simmons Patterson was born on June 24, 1957 on Loring Airforce Base in Maine to the parentage of Thomas “Pat” Patterson, Jr. and Clara Patterson.

Sidney moved to Austin, TX at a very early age. He attended all his primary and secondary schooling in Austin, TX. In 1973, as a junior in high school he was invited to perform in Romania to sing with the senior choir. He graduated from Reagan High School in 1975. He attended UT Austin where he studied computer science. 

He moved to Dallas and began working at JCPenney. He worked there for many long years. Sidney retired from JCPenney.

His favorite season is football season and his favorite team is UT Austin. He could sit and binge watch football over and over and never tire of it.

Sidney was a wordsmith, in most conversations with him, one would need a dictionary or google to get the meaning of words that he could throw out in every day conversations. 

Though Sidney had known her for over 23 years on December 31, 2013, Sidney married Trish Wilson. Why New Year’s Eve, because Sidney said he always wanted there to be a party on their anniversary.

On December 13, 2023 Sidney Simmons Patterson transitioned from this life to the next. Sidney was proceeded in death by his father Thomas “Pat” Patterson, Jr.

Those he leaves to cherish his memory include: his wife, Trish Patterson; sons, Winston Patterson, Marcus Patterson, and Nicholas Patterson; daughters, McKinley Patterson and Madison Patterson; mother, Clara Patterson; brothers, Thomas Patterson, III (Shanita) and James Patterson; grandchildren, Kaelei Patterson, Nyema Patterson, Christian Patterson, Saniyah Patterson, Maliyah Patterson, Naviyah Patterson, Khiry Nash, and Kalea Carter; a special niece, Kristin Patterson; bonus children, Doriel Morris, Terrance Cooper, and Langston Brown; and a host of other family members and friends.
