Ashok just read Mukesh patels message and he wrote we should remember Mukund, yes i had this long time in my head and now its time to break the silence, on 17th when we start from our side thats the x students i had in mind we start with
1) Receite Ganapati sloka of 2 lines
2) shanthi path sloka of 4 lines for departed souls of our colleages and our teachers.
3) 2 minutes silence for the departed souls
Then we start with what we want to do. I can recite these slokas and it will be nice to remember our lost ones. Need your Views on this.
i had contact with Ivy fernades she is in Vadodara and told her about this function but she said i have no information i told her i am informing you, but it wll be nice if DILIP k SHAH contacts her on this home number 2652630080.

Hi Gents,

Always a great idea to remember our departed Bhavanites - My Brother, Tarun M Patel also passed away in December 1993 aged 33. He was a Haute Coutier having opened the London Fashion Week in 1993 with spreads in "Hello" magazine amongst others. He also made dresses for Princess Diana (Under Hatchi's supervision), Sarah Ferguson, Shakira Caine and Joan Collins were amongst many of his clients!! God Bless.

Hi all you long lost friends. It was a wonderful surprise to receive a call from Uday the other dau. It was a real blast from the past. I must say that the joy was short lived when Uday told me about Mukund. I know it has been a while since he passed on, but it is one of the saddest things I have heard in the recent past.

A bit about me (might be a tad bit boring). After 1971, I did my BSc in Geology from Baroda university in 1974, my MSc in Geology in 1976 and my PhD in 1979. I worked for four years as an engineering geologist for the next 2 years or so and then joined the Dept of Geology as a lecturer in 1981. I spent 11 years teaching, and then migrated to Australia in 1992, where I have been since. I started working as an environmental consultant and over time have progressed from technical work to management. I am currently the Chief Operations Officer of a major Australian consulting organization with around 600 staff (phew, that was hard work as it is the first time I have penned down my career. As they say, there is always a first time).

So Ashok Kanti, I am not mining anything Down Under, but do a lot of consulting work for major mining companies. Ashok, how do you find plumbing the depths of people's innermost emotions and pent up feelings? I can visualize you being very good at it. You were always 'different'. Mukesh, it is great to see what you have achieved in life, both materially and from a religious perspective. You always had that bent of mind.

Suman (chua), what are you up to nowadays?

Paresh G, the busy business man, who has the time to google but not respond to emails. That does sound a bit strange!!!! Any way, each to their own.

I sincerely hope that all of us keep in touch and that we find all the other lost sheep of our flock.

In the meanwhile, my regards to all your families and wish all of you the best of health (without which there is no point to life), happiness, and as a Patel can't help myself in saying, prosperity.

I must say that you haven't seen anything till you have seen Australia (a hint to all that you guys should come over).

Cheerio till the next post. Pankaj (Kikabhai as Paresh G would say it) signing off.

Dear Dilip G, my hint was for you guys to come over for a holiday, not to reside there. Good God, can you imagine all of us rascals in one country, and worse still, in one city, and the ultimate nightmare, residing there!!!!!!!

Hey Pankaj

Sooooo glad that you are alive and kicking. The first thing that comes to my mind about you, was the crazy puppy dog you got in the school. No one could ever do it then or now.

We are going to do our next reunion down under -so get ready to rock ( jus kidding, one is it!) Whats up with you-will try to see if I can make it bull--just come.

We need pictures-- i am going to post your school pic but we need your reecent ones and with family as well

It is nice to reconnect .with old friends.(why- the psychological reasons would be explained at the reunion)

You called me Kanti, some call me Ashka, Ashki, Billy Billy, Dada, rarely Ashok  and I dont remember anyone calling me Ashokbhai-- names we had, Will pen something to that effect. We know friends by names we forgot..

Time to remeber those things and other things again.

Pankaj - you remember taking me fishing? So many small different memories.

But also time to make new memories with old friends

Make it .

AK

G'day Ashok (note the Crocodile Dundee Aussie lingo!!!).

Believe you me that along the years I have been thinking a lot about our years at Bhavans. I have often told my close friends in Oz that if God gave me one wish, then it would be to relive those years at Bhavans. I look back in time with tinged of affection, remorse and sadness (at the pranks that we pulled off at the expense of a few teachers). But as they say, hindsight is very dangerous. We did what we thought was right at that time as budding adults, but nevertheless juveniles.

Yes, the puppy incident was a hoot, but I loved dogs. I have had pets for the last forty years and have buried four of them, but I have one (I will post the pictures once I get back to Sydney- not only of the dog, but self and family too). I still go fishing, itc is one of my passions. I was only manifesting deep rooted passions at a very young age, albeit, not to the liking of all and sundry. I am sure you will be able to explain to me the psychology of this behavior.

Remember the time, during our infamous 'strike', how we jumped the Baroda Dairy wall and fed the troops with food bought with our own cash. That was leadership at it's best!!!! I still have no apologies for what transpired then, despite the passage of time and onset of maturity during this period.

I remember how we dyed Bakshi, the 'khatta's tank with blue ink and the tinge of blue on his face the next day morning when we stood around his room the next day morning. That was priceless!!!! Magnifique, even if I say so myself.

I am sure that there are plenty of forgotten memories which will come to the fore when we all sit down together over bottles of Cab Sav.

I personally think that the things we did then (right or wrong, but according to whom?), defined us as individuals. From what I hear from Uday, all of us have done very well in our chosen fields. I feel very proud of the group and am honored to have spent those precious years at Bhavans together. We were good, talented in many facets and that shows in our place in the world at this moment in time.

After spending eleven years teaching at MS University and then as a guest lecturer at the University of New South Wales, I still think that Essie Mathews was the best teacher I have encountered (despite our juvenile wet dreams we might have had about her). I hear that Essie is in Melbourne and that Suman has her contact details. Ashok, can you send me those details? I will track her down and meet her and pay my respects.

More later.

Toodles for now.

Cheers

Pankaj
