20th RHS Tour pix

The RHS Class of 1989 gift in its new location. As alumni, we can continue to give back to the high school that gave us our start in the world, by donating to the alcohol and drug education series that has annually presented to Ridge students since our 10 year reunion. What a great legacy and a thoughtful way to remember those classmates who we have tragically lost.

The new auditorium and senior parking lot entrance to Ridge High School.

Cheryl, Amy and Kristi gathering the troops before the high school tour on Saturday afternoon (10/17/09).

Jenn Lutkowski, Jill Meyer Zielinski and JR Foster meeting up in the old lobby.

Linda Allen Overbay and Cheryl Stogowski Nicholas with their husbands in front of the new flat panel TV in the lobby. The TV rotates slides with upcoming events and important information.

Jenn Lutkowski in the old Ridge High gymnasium. The old gym has been outfitted with new bleachers, not pictured here.

Jason Duffany and his wife joined the tour with their children.

Jen McNally Monac and Jenn Lutkowski in the new lobby lined with trophy cases.

The new lobby is located beyond the cafeteria, which other than being bumped out a bit, is almost exactly the same.

A wider shot of the new lobby.

The new gymnasium, with monogrammed "R" bleachers in the distance.

Classmate Judy Schmidt is recognized in the new gym as part of the 1000 point club for basketball.

More banners naming Ridge athletes.

Wider shots of the gym...

Not pictured, there is a whole new weight training and exercise room equipped with top of the line equipment.

In addition to the great sports programs available to students 20 years ago, Ridge High also offers fencing, dance classes, gymnastics and all kinds of new athletics groups.

The new gym is located beyond the old band room and Dr. Crosset's old classroom...where the old smoking lounge used to be.

Technical education is a class offered at Ridge High School. These are some of the projects students have worked on.

This is a brand new wing off the back of the school. It juts off the back of the old sophomore hallway and runs along the back of the school, ending up back at the back of the old senior hallway.

Chantal Steffes Konicek with her son Ethan...just a few more years before he is a Ridge student :)

Amy Welch Baisley with her three girls.

Did you know Ridge has a second story and an elevator now?

This is a view of some of the '89ers and their families, who came for the tour.

Has it really been 20 years?

Here is view of the upstairs.

Stacey Wieczorek Rhatican very enthusistically led the school tour, sort of the like the "Breakfast Club" cast did as they ran through the halls of Shermer High School.

The tour continues...

As mentioned, the school now offers dance classes

And has it's own studio...

with mirrors and bars lining the walls around a beautiful dance floor.

In-lay floors are found all through out the school.

Ridge High School's talented students are still recognized for their beautiful artwork. In addition the art rooms have Macs and now offer graphic design courses.

This is the new auditorium...not sure how many it seats, but it is huge!

Another flat panel to provide information for students and families outside of the auditorium. Also, the dedication plaque from the 2008 opening of the theater.

Seussical the Musical was recently presented.

JR Foster came to our rescue has he located a bank of light switches that allowed us to illuminate a portion of the theater.

Although it was dark, we couldn't believe our eyes...it was like a college lecture hall.

Two areas of the auditorium have elevated stadium seating with partitians that open and close to create three individual lecture areas.

Jason Duffany's children entertained us briefly on the stage.

All oooooooed and aaaaaahhhhed over what our high school has become.

Our fearless tour guide...

Thanks for the tour!

The Red Devil Depot is a school store with regular hours. The store sells all kinds of RHS products.

The old auditorium is now the new reception and office area. The walls are lined with pennants and banners celebrating the colleges and universities of RHS alumni.

School spirit seems to be high at Ridge. Pep rallies are planned in advance and students wear color coded clothing to show their spirit and support for the athletes.

The new gymnasium from the front of the school.

The new auditorium entrance.

Look to the left of this picture and you will see how the Senior parking lot has grown. The expansion goes all the way back to where the old practice fields once were.

The good old entrance we used to use. For security reasons, there is a covered portico entrance that leads to the double doors on the left.

The Baisley family seemed to enjoy the tour...now off to the reunion!
