Jennifer Cockerham Richard

Since 1999, a lot has happened! I started at BRCC the summer after we graduated, and then went on to Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux. In November of 1999, I fainted in church and had short term memory loss, causing me to not do so well in that sememster of school. I sat out, went back, attended BRCC AGAIN, then went to LSU where I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education.

In June of 2006, I met my husband at a hole in the wall bar in Iota, Louisiana!! (Bonus points for anyone who knows where that is!) Actually, I met his parents, and they insisted that I meet him! LUCKY ME! We met in June of '06, I moved to Egan (outskirt of Iota) in July of '06, he proposed in my classroom during my class Christmas party in December of '06, and we were married April 13, 2007!!! WOW, Right?!?! It has flown by...and life is great! Doug and I are expecting our first child, due May 1, 2009!

Being away from home (Central) has really been a challenge for me. I have always been very close to my parents and my siblings, and I miss being close enough to "ride over!" That being said, I come HOME as often as I can! (Usually 2 weekends a month!)

There are so many things that I remember about our high school years.

Rushing to get to school for orientation early so that we could get the BEST lockers!

Getting to "your spot" in the commons area!

Only 2nd shift lunch was "cool"!

Gas was only 99 cents!

Wearing orange to get bonus points in O'Brien's class!

The Friday night football games followed by McDonalds, then off to a party...sleepovers that involved a LOT of toilet paper. (Bradley Pattersons being the most memorable "rolling" event)

Homecoming gathering at Melanie Gardner's house before the game....Missy drank too much Boone's farm, hiked her dress up, and puked all over the yard...all while people were passing in front of the house to get to the dance!

11th grade, ole' Wag came snow skiing with my family....As usual he didn't pay attention to the warning signs that read "DO NOT ENTER ICE POND!"...as a result, he fell through the ice into the FREEZING waters!! PRICELESS!

Waiting on the last day of senior year to find out if I would graduate!

Homecoming week.....dressing up!

Bonfires.....repeated stories from the "old days" that got better with every beer you drank...and wearing the shortest skirt or shorts you had, even if it was negative 20 degrees outside!
