Kristie Doming Rutherford

After graduation, I attended LSU and Southeastern for Theatre and Secondary Education, respectively. Then, in 1997, I moved to Orlando, Florida to work for Disney. I worked in Entertainment Costuming at the Magic Kingdom and Disney-MGM Studios for six years. I helped open and close several parades and shows, and in the middle of all that got married and had a son! My husband, Brian, who graduated from Point Park College in Pennsylvania, also worked in Entertainment Costuming. He stayed with the company for 11 years (and actually still works for them from time to time). After the birth of Max, I left Disney to take care of him. In the last five years that we were in Orlando, I did summer work for both Universal Studios and Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks - otherwise known as Sea World and Busch Gardens (and yes, they gave us free beer for working there!). I was also a photographer for Lifetouch, Inc. Although we adored living in Orlando, we made the decision to move back here to help out with my parents. We are still getting settled and are very proud that our son just started kindergarten at Levi Milton Elementary in Walker!

The things I remember most from Parkview would be being on the Booster Team and the Silver Steppers, as well as my best friends Leigh Anne and Julie. It's been forever long ago, so I hardly remember anything specific, but the phrase that still inexplicably sticks with me is "nictitating membranes" in reference to an eagle's eye, given in speeches in chapel before football games. I also loved doing all the plays with Mrs. Burt, and going to all the pep rallies.
