I thought of Arlette Dover yesterday when I came across the 1953 version of "The War of the Worlds," George Pal production.  I and a couple friends saw that at the Paramount Theater on Saturday morning when kids could see movies for six Pepsi bottle caps.  As was often the case, my friends and I all had our baseball gloves with us.  We spotted Arlette a few rows ahead and decided to scare her at some appropriate point in the movie.  We did.  And that was that.

I remember also that she lived right across the street from Nicholson Elementary school and that on one occasion I also saw her at the skating rink at (I think) North St at N. Foster Dr.skating with an adult I assumed was her father.  I asked her for a skate dance (or whatever they were called), and my usual clumsy non-athletic self, I crashed and burned as she skated on without me.

Anyway I looked her up here and saw, sadly, that she was deceased.  I looked also in the Class of '64 BRHS yearbook, but she wasn't there.  That's all I know, except I found her obituary.  She died in 1993 at age 46.  Like I said...sad.  If interested, here's a link:
