After graduating from Belleville High, Christopher attended Rutgers College at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey where he majored in Sociology and Political Science with a minor in English. While at Rutgers, he remained active in the school's extra-curricular programs running discussion groups on Culture Studies and LGBT Issues and was president of his residence hall for three years. He graduated a member of the National Society of Collegiete Scholars in 2006.
Before he graduated, while working for the school's student fundraising program and interning as a grant-writer for a local non-profit, he decided to pursue a career in the non-profit sector where he could employ his passions for community service best. Upon graduation, he was hired as the Assistant Director of Annual Giving at the Rutgers University Foundation where he worked until the end of 2008.
He left his job at Rutgers to gain new experience at different organizations and has since spent his time providing fundraising consultation to small non-profits. In addition to his consultation work, he recently began volunteering for Citizen Schools-New Jersey teaching writing to middle school students in the city of Newark.
In August 2010, Chris will begin serving as a National Teaching Fellow with Citizenschools- New Jersey where he will begin work on his Master's in Education and teach middle schools students at Newark's First Avenue School.
