Former Councilman McGonigle Cited For 'Zest in Overcoming Injustice'

Colleagues and friends fondly remembered former Councilman Kevin McGonigle during the September 13 regular meeting of the Fanwood Borough Council, as a resolution commending Mr. McGonigle's years of public service was formally adopted by the governing body.

Mr. McGonigle, who served two terms on the council from 1989 to 1994, died September 6 at home at the age of 48. Mayor, Mrs. Linda d. Stender, praised the former councilman, an 11-year Fanwood resident and decorated Vietnam veteran, for his "dedication and integrity" and his "zest in overcoming injustice" during his council career.

The resolution was to be forwarded to M. McGonigle's family following its adoption by the council, according to Mayor Stender. Mr. McGonigle is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carol Moore McGonigle, and three sons, Joseph, Kevin, Jr. and Brian.
