Happened to look at the Class of 1962 webpage which allows some access without registering and found this lovely mention of the late Joseph Zucca...one of our great former teachers.

Thank you, Tim, for posting this. I had no idea Mr. Zucca had died, or of his many interests and accomplishments. Being at Carlmont only one year I missed knowing some wonderful people and teachers.  I do remember Mr. Zucca's face which seemed to be always to have a smile, and I remember a spirit of  enthusiasm he had. He is in my prayers. Thank you again for the post. -Ginny Leyes Kortenkamp

Mr. Zucca was a teacher that one remembers--one of those few teachers who really touched our young minds.  -Marlene Walther Cowan

I have faint memories of almost all of the teachers I had when I was in high school except for Mr. Zucca. He was such a special & gifted teacher that he made his science classes fun & interesting & we actually looked forward to projects like putting our hands in formaldehyde & dissecting a frog.

In one of his most memorable classes he had all of us huddle together, put our arms out & turn our palms up while he let a tarantula slowly walk across our jittery hands. Not many teachers garnered that much trust & respect from their students!

He could have been the “poster boy” for all other teachers to emulate & I’m sad that my children didn't get the chance to experience a teacher like him.

Even after 55+ years he is still fondly remembered & definitely missed.
