Music and Concerts were a big part of our high school years and the Bay Area had a thriving music scene with tons of local talent.

 

 

Journey, the Doobie Brothers, Santana, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Sammy Hagar, Ronnie Montrose, and The Grateful Dead just to name a few!

Day on the Green in OAK  (Scorpions, Y&T, Metallica, Rat, et. al)
Maples Pavillion (Stanford):  Pat Benatar
Los Angeles Coliseum:  Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band  ('Born in the USA' Tour)
Shoreline Ampitheater:  the maiden Bridge School Benefit Concert  (tix by lottery):  CSNY, Tom Petty, Don Henley, Nils Lofgrin, Robin Williams
Greek Theater:   Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with Bob Dylan
Lots of clubs (including One Step Beyond in San Jose):  Stray Cats
Wolfgang's:  Spinal Tap (SNL's Father Guido Sarducci, opening)
Concord Pavillion:   The Blues Bros.  (Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi)
Circle Star:  Chuck Berry, Cheech & Chong, The Beach Boys
San Jose Ctr. for Performing Arts:  (comedy rather than music):  Bily Crystal (a very young & barely known, Ellen DeGeneres, opening) 
To name just a few.   I'm sure the concert tix in storage would jog lots of add'l. memories, lol.
All of these with some semblence of my CHS '82 crew  :)

Terry Verdoia

The Stones in 1981 at Candelstick with Scott Cosgrove.  The opening band was Jay Giles.  This was my fondest memory.

Also, sneaking into the Circle Star through a back door with Kim, Vicky, Jill and others to see Earth Wind and Fire.  We were dancing on top of the seats and suddenly the entire row of seats broke and fell over!! Crazy fun time.

Fianlly, Rod Stewart at the Cow Palace.  The encore included shirtless women from the audience dancing with Rod; he liked it better than the crowd!

Hi Rich, I believe that is *Sir* Cliff Richard, ha! Yes, we were fortunate to live in an area that had some many great shows. Other shows include Howard Johnson opening for Joe Jackson, probably in 1983 at a small SF club; Jefferson Starship and Elvis Costello, both at the Greek Theater; and The Tubes multiple times. I'm sure there's a Huey Lewis and the News in there as well. And of course the ever-present Journey, who headlined at  Day on the Green #2 in 1980 also featuring Black Sabbath, Cheap Trick, and Molly Hatchet(!) Good times!

We were all so lucky to live in a time when such great music was made here locally. So Many Day On The Green's and great conserts that i won't even begin to list them all. Fortunatly that music will never die.
