Note: My husband of 21 years, Chuck Kelley, died January 23, 2021 from COVID. I remarried in January 7, 2023.
I graduated from BGSU in 1970 and began teaching in Madison, Ohio. After twelve years, we moved to Mt. Vernon, Ohio. While there, I taught at Knox County Vocational School. A couple of years later we moved to Marietta,Ohio where I taught a group of high school students who had behavioral issues. Dealing with students who had severe needs was challenging, but I really enjoyed seeing their progress. We moved to Nevada from Ohio in 1987. There I began a twenty year stint at Reed High School where I taught special education English then later taught regular English. This was my dream job. I loved it and retired from the Washoe County School District in 2010. During this time I was divorced from my first husband and later married Chuck Kelley. In the fall of 2010, we moved to Arizona. I went back to teaching resource for a junior high school in Parker, Arizona. I retired for the last time in 2016. That completed forty-five years of teaching school. My children are grown and doing well. Deanna is married and is a stay at home mother with four beautiful daughters ages 11-19. Her husband is a optometrist in Arvada, Colorado. My son, Jeff, is married and has three children ages 9-11 He is a behavior specialist teacher at Sparks High School and his wife is an auditor for the state of Nevada. My youngest daughter, Nikki (who was named for Niki Kouris, 1968 BHS) has a son, 12 and a newborn, Brooks. She iworks for a builder. Her husband is in commercial insurance. They live in Reno.
We now have a home in Sparks, Nevada again and kept our little place in Arizona as a winter getaway.
