School Story:
I went to and graduated from Kent State University with a B. of S. in Education in 1993. My parents and brother moved to Dublin, Ohio in 1990, so that became my new hometown. I started teaching 5th grade at Chapman Elementary, with Dublin City Schools in 1994 and married Christian Kalix in 1995. He is a Chemistry teacher with Dublin City Schools. In 1999 I received a Master's degree in Computer Education from Ashland University. I have also been a part of the Dublin Education Association as a rep. for my school. Amber was also born in 1999. I continued to teach at Chapman for another year and needed a change so I went to Davis Middle School for the next three years. I was the Computer Resource teacher. I worked on my +45 hours after my Master's during this time, and had Caroline in 2003. I missed having my own classroom and the elementary kiddos, so I had the opportunity to go back to Chapman, in the 5th grade, and have been there every since. I continue to be a rep. with the DEA. I was one of five teachers in the district asked to be a part of the Master Teacher pilot program that Ohio will be rolling out soon. And I'm proud to say that I am now considered a Master Teacher! My girls are sweet, funny, smart, feisty, and loving. Amber is a 3rd grader who loves to read, play soccer and softball, is a Brownie, and plays piano. Caroline just turned 5 and is in preschool. She loves to color, play games, Webkinz, and to read too. They are such fun and keep Christian and I on our toes!!
So many great high school memories! Lisa, Julie, Sandy, Stephanie.....you know what I'm talking about!
