I have been living in rural Skagit County Washington since 1979. This is a beautiful corner of the planet in the Pacific Northwest -- a big river valley flowing from the North Cascades to Puget Sound. I love this place -- I have deep roots in the community, and for most of my 25+ career, have been doing my best to protect the threatened habitats that make this place so special. My spare time is devoted to gardening, hiking in the mountains and travel -- mostly exploring other wild places in the west. I have been married for 10+ years to my best friend; we have 2 dogs and a very old cat; oh, and John's 3 grandchildren in San Diego.
