Some of us from the BHS Class of 1966 Lunch Bunch started a project to include more names of our classmates on the Bettendorf Veterans Memorial (www.bettendorf.org/veterans).  We thought you might also be interested in supporting this meaningful project. We had 87 classmates who served out of a class of 300. Some of them were already included due to donations by family and friends. We sent invitations and applications to the rest of our living veterans and the known families of five of our deceased classmates. As a result, by Veteran’s Day 2024 there were 26 memorials installed for living and deceased veterans, either funded by their family or by our committee. Additional memorials are scheduled to be installed by Memorial Day 2025. We would like to recognize as many more of our deceased veterans as possible with the permission of their families, but we need your help in coming up with funds.  We have 19 deceased veterans who are not currently included on the memorial or scheduled to be. It costs approximately $300 for each memorial depending upon the number of characters. This is a team effort so contributions in any amount will be very much appreciated. Make your check payable to “Friends of Bettendorf Parks Foundation” and write “BHS Class of ‘66” on the subject line.
