Mr. Johnny L. Peggins.  Perry County was the birthplace of this Lipscomb resident. "Hogg" graduated Wenonah High, Class of 1952, and Lawson State Community College to become a Registered Nurse. He enjoyed more than 37 years of employment with the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Birmingham. Our beloved was an Honorably Discharged U.S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran, member of Hornets Social and Savings Club and was an avid football fan. The close of life came on Saturday, May 22, 2010. Cherished memories linger with wife of 56 years, Mary Wells Peggins, Class of 1953; children, Joann (Michael) Cunningham, Sharon (Jerome) Pickens, Class of 1973, Phyllis (Melvin) Hall, Yolanda Cole, Class of 1975, LaVonda (Melvin) White, Class of 1979, Corliss, Ronald and Pastor Reginald (Lynette) Peggins; siblings, James (Mary Lee) Peggins, Class of 1953, Viola Walton, Betty Peggins Boykin, Class of 1955, Bernice Barnfield, Elnora Macklin and generations of grandchildren. Celebration of Life is 1:00 Saturday at Old St. Paul Baptist, 3231 Long Avenue D, Bessemer. Pastor Alfonza January, Celebrant. Military Rites and Inhumation follows at Elmwood.
