Jimmie L Amison - Class Of 1954

MR. JIM "Big Mutt"  AMISON, JR., This Wenonah Dragon, Class of 1954, was known throughout the Wenonah area and admired by many. In his community, this entrepreneur operated Jim's Sandwich Shop and King Cuts Barber Shop. He was one of the first African Americans to own a Standard/Chevron Gas Station. The son of Jim, Sr. and Jessie Strickland Amison, he was Deacon and Trustee at his beloved Galilee Baptist Church. Enjoying family and the fellowship of dear friends brought happiness to this retiree of ACIPCO. A son, Dale Bryant and sister, Dorothy Waiters preceded him in death. Eternal rest was granted on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. The joy he shared is felt in the hearts of his devoted wife of 46 years, Katie Marzette Amison; loving daughter, Allison (Darryl) Anderson; sisters, Gwendolyn Thornton and Vera (Charles) Sorrell; aunt, Laura Mae Davis; granddaughters, Darria and Allissa and numerous relatives. Celebration of Life is 2:30 Sunday at Galilee Baptist, 3753 Carver Avenue, SW Birmingham 35221. Pastor L.D. Coleman, Celebrant. Inhumation follows at Elmwood. Family Visitation is 5:00 until 7:00 Saturday. Calling Hours at Johnson Memorial, Bessemer, Saturday Noon until 9:00.                     Obituary
