Shearlene Davis (Hall) - Class Of 1955

 

DR. SHEARLENE DAVIS HALL, This Brighton native graduated Wenonah High School, Class of 1955, Alabama State and the University of Alabama. With passion for educating, Dr. Hall was a lifelong educator having taught in Opelika Schools, Councill and Wenonah Elementary and later Jefferson State Junior College, retiring as Director of Community Relations. She was a Sister of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and enjoyed music. Dr. Hall was a gracious lover of people and well respected by family and colleagues. She was a lifelong member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church of Brighton. There, she had served as Christian Education Director, Choir Director and established an educational scholarship fund which bears her name. Her mother, Mrs. Ruth Ollie Davis and sister, Onedia Davis preceded her in death. On Monday, October 10, 2011, this woman by God's grace was granted eternal life. Cherished memories of life linger in the hearts of her children, Angela (Steven) Bell and Clinton (Alesia) Harris, Jr.; father, Charlie Davis; very special friend, James Johnson; sisters, Geraldine McCain, Charlsie (Ralph D.) Cook, LeeDrestra Davis, Arvella (Clarence) Stephens, Brenda (Fred) Kindred, Marsha Davis and G. Denise (James) Moore; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Tiffany, Kelvin and Clinton, III. Requiem is 1:00 Saturday at Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Zion, 1530 Fourth Avenue North, Birmingham. Rev. Sylvester Miller, III, Celebrant. Inhumation follows at Elmwood. Family Visitation is 5:00 Friday with Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony at 6:30. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Hall Scholarship Fund at Bethel A M E Zion Church,105 Parker Springs Street, Brighton 35020. Kennedy Godbold (1955)

To the Davis family:we are in great sympathy with you in the passing of Shearlene we will surely miss her. In our class she was always smiling.God love you and so do we. Rev. Kennedy Gobold Cleveland, Ohio.
