James A Smith

JAMES ANTILLES SMITH, age 90, of Birmingham, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010. He was a 1950 graduate of Alabama State University and had a long career in education. He was a former assistant principal of Wenonah High School and retired from Lawson State Community College where he served in several positions as Director. He was a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Family Hour will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mary Della Smith and a sister, Mary D. Hardy of Trenton, NJ. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife of sixty years, Leola C. Smith; three sons, Rev. James C. Smith, Keiff A. Smith and Kuan A. Smith; two daughters, Vanita Brooks and Deborah Young; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
