Thomas Witt was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 14, 1925 to Mary Witt Washington and died in Manhattan, New York on October 16, 2005, at the age of 80. At 18 years old, Thomas migrated to Detroit,  Michigan from Birmingham, Alabama in pursuit of greater economic opportunities, and he was employed by the American Blower Corporation in Detroit.  Thomas enlisted in the United States Navy from the city of Detroit and he was deployed abort the ship "General M L Hearsey for two years. Upon completion of his Naval obligation and  after discharge, Thomas settled in New York City, met the love of his life, Miriam Agatha Campbell and they married on September 5, 1947.
