Upon graduation, Susan and I moved to Richmond where I started work with the VA Dept of Health. After only 3 months on the job, I was arrested for being drunk in public. After 6 months of community service I was again arrested for lewd and disorderly conduct - I thought having my back to the road and face towards the bldg was okay, but...again, public service. After successfully completing the Public Service with 7 yrs at the Virginia Dept of Health, I started working for a consultant in Richmond, Dewberry and Davis. Then it was Susans turn for her brush with the law. After being pulled for speeding, she flipped off the officer and tried to leave the scene. About 3 or 4 miles later she slammed into a roadblock and then the slammer for her. I was upset with her and took it out on the police officer at lock up. I spent a few unexpected days there myself. In 1991 we were so well known in Richmond, we moved to sleepy Blacksburg. We got to know Chief Brown within the week. He informed my new employer, DAA, that we had a serious record of flagrant disregard for the law we were having a hard time running from the past. By this time, we had 3 small kids and keeping up with them was really difficult. Susan and I would get tired of them and we began leaving them at home on weekend so we could mess around by ourselves. Well social services didnt like it and the kids were temporarily removed. About a year or two later we were reunited with them, what a pain! We were not ready, although we convinced the judge that we were serious about being parents oh well. When the kids were home Susan and I began drinking again it was great.
Well in 2008, we find ourselves with our oldest son Michael with the Richmond Police department he says hes seen our pictures at work! His sister Betsy is working on her Masters in Education and is busy interviewing for a fulltime teaching position in the Fall. Our youngest is Peter. He is a sophomore at Virginias newest state school(what a gem and a secret!), Christopher Newport in Newport News. Susan is a successful 6th grade math and science teacher and is working on her National Board Certification and I hold operations together for Draper Aden Associates, a 220 person environmental consulting firm.
