In Memory

Beth Aydlett

Beth Aydlett

Beth grew up in Blacksburg.  After graduating from Blacksburg High School she attended the University of South Carolina for two years and then transferred to Virginia Tech.  After graduation she started teaching in Roanoke County.  After several years, she left to pursue her Master's degree and, upon completion, moved to Montpelier, near Richmond.

Beth lived a simple and quiet life out in the country.  She had lots of friends, many "new " friends, but also many friends from childhood who were lifetime buddies.  She loved to spend time at the beach, at Clayor Lake, and pretty much anywhere there was water.  There are so many good memories of times spent together with friends with lots of cooking and drinking and laughing.

Beth always had dogs... BIG dogs who she lovingly rescued and cared for.  They were her buddies and constant companions.

Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Rick and Rocky, and their families, with whom she was extremely close.  She also leaves behind many friends who loved her dearly.

I met Beth when we were 9 years old. My family had moved in down the street from the Adylett family. From that day on, she was a treasured and remarkable friend.
Soon after moving back to Virginia, a few years ago, I had the privilege of meeting Beth for lunch in Richmond one Saturday. Some of her friends that she had taught with stopped and talked to us. It was clearly evident how highly regarded and beloved she was as a high school math teacher by her students and colleagues!
I always loved Beth's creative intelligence and sense of humor! She was a gentle, humble, kind, and encouraging friend at all times. She is greatly loved and missed.

I sat next to Beth at VA Tech basketball games for years, she and her mom had tickets next to my dad and me, I sure enjoyed her spirit and enthuism, it was different getting to know her outside of school and I cherish those memories, she will be missed by everyone that knew her.

A bright light from our class has been taken away from us. We will remember the smile, joy, and laughter she gave to us and the world.
