I am a volunteer at the McLean County History Museum. We have someone looking for information on the Dick Bell Amusement Park that may have been on Six Points Rd back in the 50's. Does anyone remember it??????????

I have a picture of it but not even a location. Thanks.

Patsy Whitecotton (Barggren)

As I've e-mailed or called classmates regarding coming to the reunion, many have responded by stating they are worried about looking old or being over-weight.  Well most of us are in that same boat with you and it's no reason to lose out on a fun time with old friends.  I mentioned this to Donna Marquardt and I LOVE and totally agree with her reply.  We don't care if you are thin or fat, have hair, don't have hair, we want to see you as you are.  We welcome and except you as you are.  Period!  None of us are perfect.  You can still look young and fairly perfect, if you can spent the money some celebrities do on their looks, with the latest nips and tucks but then you look a little silly to appear 20 at 60 something, like Cher and a few others, I could name, not  to speak of the vanity and missing the real values of life.  Read my interview, on my site, from Soap Opera Digest regarding Liz Taylor being beautiful at any age or weight.  I'm also posting the article below I was asked to write for The National Enquirer about 12 or so years ago.  I hope it's of some comfort and encouragment to all of us, just to be the best we can be at any age and size.  That's the newest thoughts on the matter.  Please don't miss out on life's opportunities because of some insecurity which is most likely only in your mind anyway.

YOUR NOT FAT, You've living in the wrong Country.

Full-figured women are considered the desired ideal female shape from Mexico to South America, the entire African Continent, a large portion of Europe, the South Pacific Islands, some parts of Austrailian, New Zealand and Tasmanian societies,  India, the Near East, Middle East and Southwestern Asia perfer well-endowed women.  A fuller figure is desirable in more than 80% of the World.

In certain societies large woman are so envied they take drastic steps to fatten up to find a husband and some are even force-fed before their marriages.  The ultimate status symbol for men in many countries is a weighty woman as a wife.  It's prestige translates to a man wealthy and succcessful enough to feed his wife well.  A pleasingly plump,  strikingly voluptuous woman is a full-blown sex symbol.  A well-rounded female is deliciously soft and senual to the touch,  verus the feel of a thin, stringy, muscled bone of a person.  Curves are a must!  It means the female figure is fully developed and ripen with experience.

The underdeveloped prepubescent school girl body is only considered attractive in the United States, westernized Europe and Japanese cultures.

None of the great Renaissance masters bothered to capture the image of thin women.  Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Raphael and Ruben painted beautiful fleshy goddesses.

In India, the derrieres of it stars, are often enlarged on their movie posters.  Ads for the famous Ziegfeld girls of the 20 and 30's read no one over 5'6" and under 180 lbs. need apply.  Marilyn Monroe was a size 12.  Through out history until the late l960's a full balanced curvy female figure was perfection.

As for age, it's only in America we worship the youth culture.  Elsewhere, worldwide, maturity is revered for the wisdom obtained while stuggling through life's battles and learning it's lessons.

And when did we start basing a person's life on their financial worth instead of who they are as a human being for their morals and ethics.

OK,  That's the article and may I add,

Ladies celebrate yourselves and Guys, we all now know that a bald head means you have an abundants of testosterone.  See you at the reunion.

Patsey; What does it mean when you have all that white stuff like me?

07/30/11 01:47 AM #39

Patsy Whitecotton (Barggren)

I think it's like fine champagne when you open it,  the white frosty stuff tops it off for the perfect effervescence.

Donna Marquardt (Dearth)

Patsy,  Coming from someone who has spent her life in the so-called "limelight", that is a great article!  And, Jack, you have earned those white hairs.  It is part of who you are!
