Diana Moore Walden has lost her husband. God bless Diana and the Walden family.
BLOOMINGTON — Wayne L. Walden, 71, of Bloomington passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 8:27 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 20, 2012) at his home.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church, Bloomington. The Rev. Jim Warren will officiate. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Christian Church, OSF Hospice or to his family.
Wayne was born March 15, 1941, in Bloomington, the son of Thomas H. and Betty J. Albertson Walden. He married Diana E. Moore on April 3, 1963, in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Cathy (Rick Blumstein) Walden, Bloomington; Becky (Robert D. Raney II) Schimannski, Normal; Vicky Walden, Bloomington; and Julie (Roosevelt Nicholas Jr.) Walden, Bloomington; 29 grandchildren, Robert Waugh, Steven (Sharla) Waugh, Kellee Waugh, Jeffery Waugh, Richard Waugh, Emily (Derrick) Waugh, Eric Platt, Bradley Platt, Ashleigh Platt, Jessica Hoog, Rebecca Hoog, Janice (Dillon) Hoog, Ryan Raney, Trisha Raney, Natosha (John) Raney, Shelby Raney, Kelsey Raney, Kayla Raney, Christina (Eric) Walden, Russell Walden, Andrew (Kristine) Childs, Adrian (Mercedes) Ortiz, Tevin (Samantha) Walden, Tianna Nicholas, Tyree Walden, Devyn Nicholas, Darrion Nicholas, Marissa Nicholas and Terrance Nicholas; 15 great-grandchildren, Riley, Reagan, Mya, Shyla, Camden, Calan, Codey, Chance, McKynlie, Nakyia, Logan, Dominic, Jaiden, Emma and Corey; and two great-grandchildren on the way; six brothers, Richard (Jo) Walden, George (Mary) Walden, James (Shirley) Walden, Kenneth (Debra) Walden, Billy Walden and Michael Walden; one half brother, Robert Walden; two sisters, Mary (Bill) Klink and Pat Loughery; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, one half brother and one great-grandson.
Wayne was retired from Laborers’ Local 362. He was an avid Bible reader and citizens band radio enthusiast known as “shovel man.” He called his grandchildren and great-grandchildren his “monkies,” and they call him “monkey head.”
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Bloomington, and the Great Banquet with the Walk of Emmaus. He was a member of the Promise Keepers and McLean County Democratic Party. Wayne served as an election judge for many years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his hospice nurse, Jason; aide, Tracy; and friend, Dennis. Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be missed by all who knew him.
