Remember when the first McDonalds opened in Normal, the Golden Arches were very impressive, now that I look at them they look like a handle for the building.

How about when Sandy's opened at the corner of Towanda and Empire.  You could get the best French Fries for a dime.

Happy Birthday my "Old Friend" seems like only yesterday we met in Mr Moeller"s homeroom as we sat at our desk in the back of the room. Congratulations on making it to your 80th birthday. Hope you have a great celebration.

A tree, bench, plaque or something even more special. I support the idea and will gladly help with a donation if approved. We were a special class. Recently I met a new member at my golf course from Bloomington graduated in 80's who was unaware of the history of the building and our class history as the first sophomore class to attend and graduate.

I'll agreewith a tree, plaque or whatever. Just tell me when and how much. We need to do it up right!

I believe that Sandies opened in anticipation of the neww BHS location. Of course, the school administration chose to have a closed lunch hour so they never florished as they'd expectes.

Hi Classmates, Hope you have been thinking on how we could honor the class of 1962. We have had some very positive comments.

If you have any ideas/suggestions, please post them by February 15 so we can proceed.

Enjoy the 🌞 ☀️.

I hope everyone is giving some thought to the proposed idea of leaving the Class of 62's presence somewhere at BHS.  It's been suggested a tree, a bench or a plaque.  My thinking on the tree is trees get cut down, we want something that's going to outlive all of us but I'm at a loss as to what it could be, any suggestions?

My idea - I don't know how practical - would be to make a patio of bricks, with each brick engraved with one of the 1962 graduating class.

That is a fantastic idea. I will make a donation to help get whatever idea is decided on. I do think this was a very doable project.

I think we probably all feel this way!

I did not write this and I’m not sure who did - but WOW does it speak to my heart!!!  Worth the read. Don’t wait to read it later!
----/
Barely the day started and... it's already six in the evening.
Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday.
... and the month is already over.
... and the year is almost over.
... and already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed.
... and we realize that we lost our parents, friends.
and we realize it's too late to go back...
So... Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time...
Let's keep looking for activities that we like...
Let's put some color in our grey...
Let's smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.
And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let's try to eliminate the afters...
I'm doing it after...
I'll say after...
I'll think about it after...
We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours.
Because what we don't understand is that:
Afterwards, the coffee gets cold...
afterwards, priorities change...
Afterwards, the charm is broken...
afterwards, health passes...
Afterwards, the kids grow up...
Afterwards parents get old...
Afterwards, promises are forgotten...
afterwards, the day becomes the night...
afterwards life ends...
And then it's often too late....
So... Let's leave nothing for later...
Because still waiting see you later, we can lose the best moments,
the best experiences,
best friends,
the best family...
The day is today... The moment is now...

We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone what needs to be done right away.
So let's see if you have time to read this message and then share it.
Or maybe you'll leave it for... ′′ later "...
And you'll never share it....

Hi Classmates, Thanks to all who responded in person and on the website as to what gift the Class of 1962 would give to BHS, a buddy type bench it will be. Details to follow, after we contact the principal at the high school, as to if it will be an indoor or outdoor bench, location, price, etc. Possible dedication date, homecoming 2024. Donations will be accepted at a later date. Be well! 🤗

Thanks, Janice, for getting the ball rolling for this project to honor the Class of '62.  Ours was the first class to attend all three high school years in a new building designed  by local architects Lundeen and Hilfinger in a unique and new architectural style for its time, 'Mid-Century Modern.'  It is also appropriate to remember our Big 12 Championship wins in football, basketball and baseball.
