Two pictures of the block of Center Street between Jefferson and Washington Streets. The smoke shop, Pines and Barker Shoes were replaced by an office building and I'm not sure if it has any tenants now.

This is the Niorth end of the picture and everyone of these businesses are gone.  The Ensenbergers Building has Condominiums in it.

I received this note from Jim Wilson he wanted me to share. He was referring to the picture of the Mitzis which I posted.

Barb: thanks for everything you do for the class of 62.  Miss the good old days at BHS. We were the lucky ones.  How would you like to going to school in this woke environment. No thanks  I was able to pick out many of my close acquaintenances from the picture.  So many good friends and great times.

Just went to a Johnny Mathis concert and he is 88 and still has the golden tenor smooth  silky voice he always had.  Remember at a party at Skip Wollrabs in the 7th grade and we loved playing that great album  by Johnny Mathis named Heavenly from Columbia  records and we all loved our Johnny Mathis and of course slow dancing.  Well kiddo you take care of yourself and I always love catching up on the old class of 62. Jim Wilson

Great memories of Ensenbergers, Mitzis, and Johnny Mathis.

Ensenbergers: when we moved to North Aurora in 1969, we are still here, our living room furniture came from Ensenbergers. Janenne and I used to babysit Don and Dorothy (Ensenberger) Tevoert's six children. We have been life long friends of the TeVoerts. We still are using one of the living room lamps, quality furniture.

Mitzis: of the 36 girls in the posted picture, lovely young ladies, I could name 22 of them, still have many as friends today. It was a fun/social group. I have my blue Mitzie pledge book. We had 8 rules. The number one rule was: No smoking, drinking, or cussing.

Johnny Mathis: Jim Wilson mentioned him, I have his 1958 Merry Christmas album. He was wearing a red sweater holding skis and poles in his hands. Google says the album could be worth between 6 and 30 dollars today. He made 73 studio albums. You are correct Jim, we used to love slow dancing to his music.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and blessed holiday. Weather permitting, we will be "home" in Bloomington for Christmas.

Janice (Scott) & Jerry Vitton ❤️🎄

This isn't true for everyone but a lot of it describes how things are now!

The Sad Reality of Change 😢
Fifty years ago, children treated their parents with gentleness. Today, it's the parents who must tread lightly around their children.
🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝
Fifty years ago, children held deep respect for their parents. Now, it’s the parents who must earn their children's respect.
👌👌👌👌👌
Fifty years ago, marriage was simple, while divorce was rare and difficult. Today, marriage feels like a challenge, and divorce comes too easily.
💑💑💑💑💑
Fifty years ago, we knew all our neighbors by name. Now, we live side by side with strangers.
💐💐💐💐💐
Fifty years ago, people ate hearty meals to fuel the hard work their bodies endured. Now, we fear the foods that could raise our cholesterol and blood pressure.
🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
Fifty years ago, one person’s salary could support the entire family. Today, everyone must work just to support a single child.
🚴‍♂🚴‍♂🚴‍♂🚴‍♂🚴‍♂
Fifty years ago, people cherished books and the joy of learning. Now, the focus has shifted to social media updates.

Here's a couple of pictures which have been on Facebook this week, it's Livingstons during the Christmas Season.  The most comments about  them were the ladies who went there to buy Capezio Shoes.

Out of curiosity, Byron Tucci has a picture of Little League players from 1957 and knows who everyone is except the guy in the bottom right, anyone know who he is?  The name on the paper said Corky Snearly but he says it's not him.
