The 50th reunion for the Class of 1963 is coming up in September. With so many being in town that week, Mary Selk wants to have all of us to sing to residents at Westminster Village. You didn't have to be in A Cappella nor in the Class of 1963 for this event. Please let me know if you can make it. You don't have to make the rehearsals to sing but she of course would rather you did. Mary Selk is 92 and this may be our last chance to honor her.

Here is what she wants to do: all singers from years 1960 to 1966 are invited to participate. Please let me know if you can make it. Some of you have already told me you can't but in order to omit you from the email, it takes a lot of extra work for me and with the reunion around the corner, I just don't have the time.

Thursday Sept. 26 at 7:30pm will be a rehearsal.

Friday Sept. 27 at 1:30pm will be another rehearsal.

Friday Sept. 27 at 3pm will be our performance.

We will be singing "Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor, No Man is an Island,  The Battle Hymn of the Republic, and Sing Noel". After that we will sing in unison, songs from Music Man and Brigadoon. Word sheets will be given out for there.

Everything takes place in Westminster Village Community Room

Please make a special effort to do this. Mary Selk is and always a special lady and great teacher. Some of us owe her big time. :)

My wife, Reta, and I enjoyed the class breakfast at Shannon's today. If you weren't there then your ears must have been burning because we dug all the dirt on those not present. We are in Bloomington area only a couple of months a year but always go to the breakfast and enjoy ourselves. You don't know what you're missing if you're not there. Did a member of the class really get arrested and jailed??? You'll never know because you weren't there and we agreed not to bring it up again!

I think we are beating a dead horse when it comes to this site and I can't figure out why.  It's a shame people won't utilize this and let everyone know there views or even if they're still alive! I really enjoy the breakfasts and wish more people would come to that.  It's just interesting to make small talk, find out what everyone is doing, kids, grandkids, etc.  Come on people and let Milan have a rest and let someone else do the talking.

I think it's a horse worth beating. When I joined the site for the Class of 1963, I had no idea how many people I could be friends with that I hardly knew at BHS. I have made lot of friends from that group. Valued friends. Lifelong friends.

Most people aren't comfortable talking in front of a crowd and feel that posting on a message board is the same. It isn't. It's old friends linking up to share an important part of our lives. We formed much of our lives together and now we are who we are based on some of those experiences.

I have talked to former classmates who are still bitter about cliques and other "bad" experiences. At our age, there are no cliques. There are just survivors. It's too late to make contacts with too many who we have lost. It's time to take control of our lives and reach out to make bad experiences in the past to good ones now. I have more friends in this class, the class of 1961, the class of 1964, and the class of 1963. All because of what Class Creators has accomplished for us.

This is easy folks, start a topic and let's share it. Politics are probably a bad idea but at this point even Terry Shoup could start something. (laugh)
